Car changing is a big deal
Drivers are being urged to plan ahead this weekend, as the busy M25 and A3 interchange will be closed for upgrade works.
Going to see Beyoncé at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Saturday, or heading to Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on Sunday? Just a heads-up that the busy M25 and A3 interchange will be completely closed this weekend for vital upgrade work.
National Highways urges drivers to plan ahead and follow new diversion routes to avoid delays. The last thing you want is to miss out on something you forked out hundreds of pounds for, right?
From 9pm on Friday 13 June until 6am Monday 16 June, all slip roads at Junction 10 will be shut. You’ll still be able to drive through the junction on both the M25 and A3, but you won’t be able to join or leave either road at that point.
This closure is part of a £317m project to make the junction safer and less congested. The upgrade includes widening the A3 where it meets the M25, and is expected to be completed by spring 2026.
A new diversion route will be in place, as the usual one isn’t available due to a closure on the A320 (between Ottershaw and St Peter’s Roundabout). Drivers are strongly advised to stick to the signed route to avoid extra traffic on local roads – or better yet, consider taking a different route such as the M3 to steer clear of the area altogether.
National Highways says closing the junction this weekend means fewer night-time closures later on. This means cutting out 15 separate overnight shutdowns and helping the project move along faster.
Looking ahead, there’ll be two more weekend closures of the A3 between Junction 10 and the Painshill interchange: one from 20–23 June and another from 4–7 July. So if you’re planning trips during those weekends, it’s worth keeping an eye on travel updates.
