Car changing is a big deal
The Polestar 3 is fast, comfortable, luxurious, and surprisingly efficient. Mat Watson has found a great deal on it as well.
Polestar makes some of my favourite posh EVs, and I reckon the Polestar 3 might be my favourite. I was super-impressed with it when I did my in-depth review, and now there are some great discounts available to make it even more tempting than ever.
Here are three reasons I think you should shortlist the Polestar 3, as well as three annoying things about it which could be a dealbreaker.

Three good things about the Polestar 3
1. It’s lovely to drive
If you’re after a relaxing long-distance cruiser, you’ve come to the right place. The Polestar 3 is really comfortable on the motorway, and the cabin is near-silent. It’s also good over bumps, and it feels pretty agile on a twisty road as well.
2. The interior is really posh

Those Swedes at Polestar know how to make a cracking cabin, because the 3’s interior has a minimalist vibe without looking dull. I love the wood trim on the dashboard and light leather, and it’s really roomy inside as well.
3. It’s surprisingly efficient
This is a big, heavy, powerful SUV, but when I did my electric car range test with the Polestar 3 it managed 390 miles before conking out. It also returned 3.5 miles per kWh, which is 0.6 more than the much smaller and less powerful Volvo EX30 managed when we tested it.

Polestar 3 deals

The Polestar 3 isn’t a cheap car, but there are some offers on at the moment which make it a bit less expensive to buy.
If I was buying one, I’d have the dual-motor version because it has the most range. It usually starts from just over £84,500, but Polestar is offering a £10,000 discount to tempt buyers in. This means it now costs the same as a mid-spec Kia EV9, and I know which car I’d rather have. The Polestar is posher inside, much nicer to drive and has more range, but the seven-seat Kia is more practical.
Three annoying things about the Polestar 3
1. Some of the software is annoying

The Polestar 3 has very few physical buttons inside, so a lot of things are controlled through the screen. When we lived with this car for six months, we found that the screen could be glitchy at times, and controlling things such as the glovebox on a touchscreen is overly complicated and annoying.
2. Alternatives have a bigger boot

With 400 litres of space on offer, the Polestar 3’s boot is around 100 litres down on the BMW iX and 120 litres smaller than the Mercedes EQE SUV. At least you do have a big area under the floor, as well as a low load lip to make it easier to lift heavy items into the boot.
3. Poor rear visibility

There’s quite a large blind spot over your shoulders in the Polestar 3, which makes tight junctions a bit of a challenge. At least you do get surround-view cameras as standard, and they have a cleaning system to keep them usable in mucky conditions.
