Audi A4 dimensions 2015 – UK exterior and interior sizes

It’s always easy to fall for a new car, especially one as smart and stylish as the Audi A4. But it’s also easy to overlook some important factors such as whether the car the car that has seduced you with its alluring lines is actually big enough or small enough for your needs.

Whether your new car is going to fit into your garage or if it is big enough to carry all of your luggage is pretty important, which is why it’s such a good idea to check out its vital statistics before you risk falling in love with it in the flesh. To help you out, we’ve collected all the important measurements of the Audi here in all its forms so that you don’t have to go hunting around for them.

Exterior dimensions

Because the A4 comes in saloon, Avant (Audi-speak for estate), allroad and S4 saloon versions that all have different measurements, it’s important to note the sometimes subtle variations that could make all the difference to your buying decision.

Saloon

Width (excluding door mirrors) – 1,826mm
Width (including door mirrors) – 2,040mm
Wheelbase – 2,808mm
Overall Length – 4,701mm (S4 is 4,721mm)
Height – 1,427mm (S4 is 1,406mm)

Avant

Width (excluding door mirrors) – 1,826mm
Width (including door mirrors) – 2,040mm
Wheelbase – 2,808mm
Overall Length – 4,699mm
Height – 1,436mm

Allroad

Width (excluding door mirrors) – 1,841mm
Width (including door mirrors) – 2,006mm
Wheelbase – 2,805mm
Overall Length – 4,721mm
Height – 1,495mm

Interior dimensions

Obviously the Avant versions will offer more cargo capacity than the saloon, but the overall differences aren’t perhaps as big as you might expect. All versions offer very usable amounts of luggage capacity, but the estate versions make loading and unloading large objects easier.

The height from the seat to the roof (headroom) only varies slightly between the saloon and estate versions, with the saloons having 1,015mm in the front and 952mm in the back, and the estates having 1,026mm in the front and 971mm in the back.

Luggage capacity

While neither the saloon nor estate (shown above) versions of the A4 have the most luggage capacity in their classes, they both do admirably in terms of space – only those with very serious capacity needs will find the A4 insufficient.

Saloon

Length of load compartment – 1,067mm

Width of load compartment – 1,000mm
Load compartment capacity (seats folded up/down) – 480 Litres / 962 litres

Avant

Length of load compartment – 1,027mm
Width of load compartment – 1,000mm
Load compartment capacity (seats folded up/down) – 490 Litres / 1,430 litres

Allroad

Length of load compartment – 1,027mm
Width of load compartment – 1,000mm
Load compartment capacity (seats folded up/down) – 490 Litres / 1,430 litres

Turning circle

Although the wheelbases vary slightly between different versions of the A4, the turning circle remains the same at 11.4 metres for all variants. While this doesn’t make the Audi the most agile car out there for turning around in a tight space, it’s certainly no supertanker either.

Weight

The unladen weights of the A4 range vary quite a bit. The saloons go from as little as 1,430kg for the 1.8-litre TFSI petrol saloon right up to 1,705kg for the 3.0-litre petrol S4, while Avants range between 1,490kg for the 1.8-litre petrol to 2,320kg for the Allroad in 3.0-Litre TDI quattro guise.

Gross weight limits for those that need to know just how much they can carry in their A4 range from as little as 1,980kg for the 1.8-litre petrol saloons to 2,320kg with the Avant and Allroad quattros.

If you are going to be towing with your A4, note that the maximum unbraked trailer load for all A4s is 750kg.
