Audi A5, Sportback and Cabriolet sizes and dimensions

The Audi A5 is a sleek and good-looking car, but does its coupe style design offer enough practicality? Whether you need to know if it has enough room inside or if it’ll fit into your garage, our guide to the A5’s dimensions will put you in the picture.

The A5 comes in coupe, Sportback and Cabriolet formats, so there are some size variations to consider here, too.

Put either the Audi A5, the A5 Sportback or the A5 Cabriolet in our car configurator to see how much carwow could help you save.

Audi A5, Sportback and Cabriolet external dimensions

The sleek, sporty lines of the A5 can make it look a long car, but it is actually a very similar size to the standard A4. That makes it noticeably bigger and heavier than the Audi TT with the payoff being a more usable cabin and useful cargo area.

Exterior dimensions
Length (coupe/Sportback/Cabriolet) 4,626mm/4,712mm/4,626mm
Width (including mirrors) 2,020mm
Height (coupe/Sportback/Cabriolet) 1,372mm/1,391mm/1,383mm

Audi A5, Sportback and Cabriolet interior dimensions

The sloping rear roofline means the A5 isn’t going to offer taller passengers loads of headroom in the rear seats. If you have dark tints on the windows as well, the restricted space in the back can make passengers feel a little claustrophobic. Legroom throughout is pretty good though, and compares favourably with the BMW 4 Series.

Interior dimensions
Front headroom (coupe/Sportback/Cabriolet) 993mm/1,014mm/1,015mm
Rear headroom (coupe/Sportback/Cabriolet) 914mm/947mm/923mm

Audi A5, Sportback and Cabriolet boot space

The A5 coupe gives you a surprisingly spacious 455-litre boot, which is 10 litres more than the BMW 4 Series. That’s even including a space-saver spare wheel rather than a repair kit, which is stored underneath the boot floor. Thanks to the standard folding rear seats, total space can be increased to as much as 829 litres.

Boot space
Boot space seat up (coupe/Sportback/Cabriolet) 455 litres/480 litres/380 litres
Boot space seat folded (coupe/Sportback/Cabriolet) 829 litres/980 litres/750 litres

Audi A5, Sportback and Cabriolet fuel tank capacity and turning circle

With a fuel tank between 61 and 63 litres, the Audi can carry plenty of fuel to keep it moving. This is marginally bigger than the tank fitted to the BMW 4 Series meaning the A5 could be the better choice for long distance driving.

The A5’s turning circle varies slightly between models, so you might want to pay close attention if you park regularly in a tight space.

Fuel tank capacity and turning circle
Fuel tank capacity 61-63 litres
Turning Circle (coupe/Sportback/Cabriolet) 11.4m/11.5m/11.4m

Audi A5, Sportback and Cabriolet weight

The A5’s Weight can vary considerably depending on which version and powertrain you choose. Diesels are the heaviest, but the additional torque means their towing and hauling capacities are greater than petrol models.

If you want to put a box on the roof, the maximum roof load across all variants is 80kg.

Weight
Minimum weight (Coupe/Sportback/Cabriolet) 1,425kg/1,490kg/1,620kg
