Honda CR-V – sizes and dimensions guide

The CR-V is Honda’s compact crossover. This segment of the market has become crowded in recent years, with rivals coming in the shape of Mazda’s CX-5, the Ford Kuga and Kia Sportage.

Here’s a guide with all its key dimensions to see how it’d fit into your life. There’s also details on how it compares to some of its competition in the size department.

Remember to use our Honda CR-V car configurator to get the best deals from the UK’s leading Honda dealers.

Honda CR-V exterior dimensions

It measures 4,605mm long – more than the Ford Kuga that comes in at 4,524mm. The alloy wheels might look good, but they make it taller too. At 1,685mm tall, it’s loftier than both the Kuga and the Kia Sportage.

Exterior dimensions
Length 4,605mm
Width (including mirrors) 2,095mm
Height 1,685mm
Wheelbase 2,630mm

Honda CR-V interior dimensions

A large exterior means a bigger interior – front headroom is 1,016mm while rear passengers get a respectable 980mm. This is pretty average for the class, although the Ford Kuga’s rear passengers get marginally more headroom at 991mm.

Legroom (front/rear) 1,049mm/973mm

Honda CR-V boot space

This is the CR-V’s party piece. The humungous 589-litre boot outdoes the Nissan Qashqai (430 litres), Skoda Yeti (416 litres), Kia Sportage (564 litres), Volkswagen Tiguan (470 litres) and the Hyundai Sante Fe (585 litres).

Rear seats up 589 litres
Rear seats down 1,669 litres

Honda CR-V fuel tank capacity and turning circle

The CR-V has an 11.6-metre turning circle. This is by no means terrible, but it’s beaten by the Sportage by quite a margin – 1.1m to be exact. Its fuel tank holds 58 litres which means that, with a 1.6-litre diesel engine fitted, you’ll have a theoretical range of around 800 miles.

Honda CR-V weight

For people who regularly tow a heavy trailer or caravan, weight is an important consideration. The CR-V weighs in at 1,515kg, but if you opt for the all-wheel drive version, you’ll add another 100kg. For towing, it compares favourably to rivals, adding a further 200kg to the maximum towing weight of the Qashqai (1800kg).
