Kia Niro hybrid SUV size and dimensions guide

The Kia Niro matches SUV looks and space with hybrid technology, offering lower running costs and a greener footprint than conventionally powered rivals. It’s one of the roomier hybrids on the market, slotting below the Sportage in terms of size but above rivals such as the Toyota Prius.

We’ve gathered all the important data to give you an idea of its dimensions to save you whipping out the tape measure at the dealership. Find the Kia Niro on our new car deals page to see the discounts carwow could help you get.

Kia Niro SUV exterior dimensions

The Niro is a mid-sized crossover rivalling the Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur. It’s generously sized thanks to its boxy styling, fitting in Kia’s lineup below the Sportage SUV. The Niro is slightly longer than some rivals, such as the Captur, but is slightly lower than the 2008 and is easily larger than other hybrid family cars such as the Toyota Prius.

The Niro has a good sized boot for a mid-size crossover, which will be important for its target market – small families. The interior comfortably has room for four. Five could be a squeeze on long journeys but is certainly possibly on shorter trips. Boot space is slightly lower than the Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur but it remains a practical option.

Kia Niro SUV fuel tank size and turning circle

The Niro SUV has a 45-litre fuel tank, slightly lower than competitors such as  the Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur. But the car does come with a small electric motor to boost range and improve the car’s emissions. It has a tight turning circle, making it feel surprisingly nimble in urban areas.

Kia Niro SUV weight

The Niro’s hybrid technology adds extra weight to the boxy Kia and this makes it heavier than the rivals in the crossover class. The extra kilograms have an impact on car handling and performance. But while it may be a little chunkier, it’s a good towing vehicle – with a maximum capacity of 1,300kg.
