Lease a BMW 1 Series from less than £270 per month*

There’s currently a lease offer on the Sport version that’s worth a look. You can get it for £267.27 per month (initial payment: £3,592.16) on a 48-month, 8,000-mile-per-year deal through Carwow. This car comes with a 156hp 1.5-litre petrol engine, three years manufacturer’s warranty, and the following features:

  • Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • 10.7-inch infotainment display
  • Front sport seats
  • 17-inch alloy wheels

A go-to choice for posh small hatchbacks

The BMW 1 Series has up to 380 litres of boot space.

The BMW 1 Series should be on your radar because it’s stylish outside, feels premium inside and it’s fun to chuck around on a good road.

Inside, the cabin feels upmarket, with a sleek dual-screen setup and plenty of adjustment for a comfortable driving position. There’s also good storage up front, though rear seat space is a little tight and the infotainment system can be fiddly to use.

The automatic gearbox, light steering and good visibility make it easy to drive around town, although the firm suspension can feel unsettled over bumps. It’s quieter and more comfortable on the motorway, but the 1 Series is at its best on a twisty road, where its sharp handling shines.

Alternatives to the BMW 1 Series

Not entirely convinced? Here are other options to consider:

  • Audi A3 Sportback: Well-equipped as standard but other hatchbacks are more practical.
  • Volkswagen Golf GTI: Spacious interior but alternatives have bigger boots.
  • Mini Cooper: Interior looks fantastic but its infotainment is form over function in places.
