Car changing is a big deal
The new Chery Tiggo 7 has only been around for a few months, but here’s why it’s well worth considering over more mainstream alternatives.
This is the new Chery Tiggo 7, and it’s a family SUV from China which is here to take on cars such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Kia Sportage and the Skoda Karoq. It also shares a lot of parts under the skin with the Jaecoo 7, because Chery is the parent company to both Jaecoo and Omoda.
We’ve spent plenty of time driving the Tiggo 7, and it’s a properly impressive SUV for the money. Here’s why you should consider making this your next car.
Why should you consider the Chery Tiggo 7?
Let’s start inside the Chery Tiggo 7, because it has a really posh-feeling cabin which is packed with tech. There are plenty of soft-touch materials around the place, and everything feels really nice and solid.

As standard you get dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera and dual-zone climate control. The interior is also really spacious, with palatial rear seats and a good-sized boot.

Out on the road the Tiggo 7 is quiet and refined, especially on the motorway. All models get adaptive cruise control as standard, which helps take the stress out of long journeys. It’s a relaxing car to cover miles in.
Chery Tiggo 7 prices and deals
If all that wasn’t enough, the Chery Tiggo 7 is also a bit of a bargain. Prices start from just £24,995 for the petrol version, less than a Vauxhall Astra, and you can currently save an average of over £2,500* on a Tiggo 7 through Carwow.

The best deals can be found on the plug-in hybrid model, which is the one to go for because it’s smoother and more fuel efficient than the petrol.
The basic PHEV version usually starts from £29,995, but through Carwow you can currently get one for £26,995*. That makes this car a whopping £16,700 cheaper than a plug-in hybrid Volkswagen Tiguan.
Chery Tiggo 7 alternatives
The Tiggo 7 is a great car with an even better price tag, but it still won’t be right for everyone. Here are three alternatives which each do something a bit better than the Tiggo 7.
Dacia Bigster – more boot space

The Chery Tiggo 7’s 565-litre boot is good, but the Dacia Bigster has up to 677 litres of space on offer in certain models, making it better for carrying cargo.
Cupra Terramar – more fun to drive

The Tiggo 7 is comfortable, but on a twisty road it feels a bit numb. If you’re looking for an SUV which will make you giggle through the bends, a Cupra Terramar is a better choice thanks to its sharper steering and more taught suspension setup.
Skoda Karoq – more user-friendly

We found some of the Tiggo 7’s interior controls to be a bit fiddly to use, most notably the infotainment system which has some confusing menu layouts. The Skoda Karoq has a more intuitive layout, as well as some all-important physical knobs for the climate control.
