This deal is for a car that’s just gone out of production and won’t be replaced, so if you want a new one you better get in quick

You may have guessed that I’m talking about the Ford Focus. Production has ended, and the last Focus will soon be driven to the great showroom in the sky.

But there are still some great deals on the Ford Focus, and you can save a smidge under £4,000. This bargain price is for the fuel-efficient 1.0-litre EcoBoost mild hybrid in Active X Edition specification.

Save £3,968 on a new Ford Focus*

At full price, this Focus would cost £32,610. If you buy through Carwow’s network of trusted dealers the price drops to just £28,642.

Active X Edition is well equipped, with a rugged body kit to give a tougher appearance, and a slightly higher ride height. It’s still front-wheel drive and won’t chase a Land Rover up a muddy track, but it does look good, I think. Powered adjustment of the heated front seats is standard, along with 18-inch alloy wheels and other goodies.

Although the Active X sits a little further from the ground than other models, Ford hasn’t spoiled the Focus for the sake of fake-4×4 style. Even as it bows out, I think the Focus drives better than any other family hatchback. It’s great fun, and the little 1.0-litre engine punches well above its small size.

Yes, some alternatives have bigger boots and, yes, the Focus is out of production and won’t have a direct replacement. But if I were looking for a new family hatchback, at this price I would be very tempted.

Ford Focus alternatives

Not a Focus fan? Try one of these instead.

  • Kia Ceed: Don’t overlook the Kia Ceed. It’s a practical and well-equipped choice with a long warranty.
  • Vauxhall Astra: Decent value with a large boot, the Vauxhall Astra is a solid all-rounder although it’s short on rear-seat space.
  • Volkswagen Golf: The Golf drives well and rides comfortably, but you can buy roomier cars for similar money.
