• DVLA rules: Some combinations are banned for being inappropriate. My list is safe, but double-check the banned combinations.
• Format matters: UK plates follow [Area Code][Year] [Random Letters]. The area code indicates the registration office, the numbers indicate the year, and the letters are random. To get a personalised plate spelling a word, you may need to use DVLA auctions or select a regional code strategically. For example, if you want a plate that reads “LAURA,” you could use LA26 URA, where LA represents London (the area), 26 indicates 2026 (the year), and URA forms the letters of the name “URA.”
• Timing counts: Cars registered before 1 March get a 75 plate, so many buyers are holding deliveries to secure the “26” badge.
