OMODA is a very new brand to the UK, and it’s a part of the huge Chinese Chery corporation, which also owns the Jaecoo brand, and which is now also selling own-brand Chery models here. 

OMODA is sort of the style leader of the three brands, leaving Chery to be a bit more conventional, and Jaecoo to do a bit more of the rugged off-roading thing. OMODA, with its sleek styling for models such as the 5, the electric E5, and the big OMODA 9, is clearly chasing the likes of the Peugeot 3008 and the Volkswagen ID.4.

Of course, the big appeal here is pricing — all OMODA models are quite a bit cheaper than their direct competition, and they come with more equipment as standard too. If that means that most OMODAs aren’t as good to drive as their European, Japanese, and Korean opposition, well then you have to decide whether that’s a price you’re happy to pay to pick up a bargain.

Why lease an OMODA?

The chief advantage of any OMODA, and that’s whether you’re talking about the 5, E5, 7, or 9, is that they’re all really good value and stuffed with the kind of standard equipment that most others make you pay extra for.

With OMODA being such a new brand in the UK, it’s unclear how its residual values are going to stack up in the longer term, at least for now, so leasing an OMODA makes huge sense as it means you don’t have to worry about depreciation, for the most part. A leasing deal with servicing and maintenance cover will also give you peace of mind while we try to get a handle on just how reliable (or otherwise) an average OMODA is over several years of ownership.
