Can’t wait for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N? Three fast, fun electric cars you can buy right now
July 15, 2025 by Jamie Edkins

This is the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, the brand’s second performance electric car which touts some seriously impressive stats. It has 650hp, will do 0-62mph in 3.2 second and has the same simulated gear shifts as the Ioniq 5 N.
And if it’s anything like the Ioniq 5 N, it should also be a riot to drive. We expect prices to start from around £70,000, and sales will start in early 2026.
But what if you’re after an electric car which will put a smile on your face and you want it now? Well here are three great performance EVs which you can get hold of right now.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
1. Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
If the Ioniq 6 N tickles your fancy, but you’re too impatient to wait, the logical thing to do is buy an Ioniq 5 N. This SUV was the brand’s first performance EV, and it’s a proper hoot on a twisty road.

It has a dual motor setup with 650hp, and it also has a really clever system on board which can simulate a dual-clutch gearbox. It’ll jolt as you shift up and surge as you hit the rev limiter, adding a layer of involvement which you just don’t get with most electric cars.
The N isn’t as comfortable as the standard Ioniq 5 – but the up side to the stiffer suspension is it does a great job of hiding its weight in the corners. Add in the fact that it looks wicked and retains plenty of SUV practicality and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is one of the best fast electric cars you can buy.
2. Tesla Model 3 Performance
The Tesla Model 3 is the most popular electric car in the world, and the Performance version can rival a lot of petrol sports saloons for driving thrills. It may not look as exciting as the Ioniq 6 N, but it’s just as fast despite having less power.

It has 460hp courtesy of two electric motors, and 0-60mph takes just 2.9 seconds. The Ioniq 6 N’s performance is measured from 0-100kmh, or 0-62 mph, so its 3.2-second sprint time will make it about as quick as the Tesla.
You may not get Hyundai’s clever fake gearbox, but the Model 3 Performance is still really good to drive on a back road. You get loads of grip and sharp steering, and you can even adjust the setting to make it drift – on the track, of course.
3. Used Porsche Taycan GTS
We reckon the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N will cost around £70,000, and for that sort of money you could have a second-hand Porsche Taycan GTS. We found a 2023 example with less than 8,000 miles on the clock for £69,995 at the time of writing.
It has two electric motors making up to 700hp in short bursts with an overboost function. It’s still slightly slower to 62mph than the Hyundai though – it takes 3.3 seconds to get there. It is still just as agile as you’d expect a Porsche to be though.
The Taycan isn’t the most practical EV in the rear thanks to tight headroom, but the front seat passengers will be very comfortable thanks to the supportive seats and they’ll appreciate the excellent interior fit and finish.
