Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
Why should you consider the Kia Sportage?
Although this generation of Sportage has recently been updated, the outgoing version is still a cracking family SUV. The design is modern and fresh, while the dashboard is packed with technology and there’s bags of space in the back for luggage or passengers. The quality is good, too, and even some of the earlier examples (from 2022) will still have some of Kia’s seven-year manufacturer warranty remaining.

Not that we expect you to need it. Kia’s reliability record is pretty good, and the Sportage comes with a great selection of engine options. There are purely petrol-powered examples, but there are also hybrids and plug-in hybrids kicking about on the market. They all provide plenty of power, while all-wheel drive is an option on some engines.

On the road, the Sportage works pretty well in town thanks to its light and accurate steering, but the low-speed ride is a little on the firm side. That said, it’s refined at motorway speeds, and the ride feels a bit more settled, while the ample grip means it drives tidily on a twisty road, even if it doesn’t exactly encourage you to drive it hard.
Buy a used Kia Sportage from £16,000
Second-hand Kia Sportage prices start at £15,600 on Carwow, which is quite a saving on the car’s original list price of around £30,000. Okay, it may not have the fresh shape of the updated Sportage revealed recently, but the old-shape car is still brilliant. For that money you can get a mid-range GT-Line model from 2022, with sporty styling and the 1.6-litre petrol engine. Alloy wheels, a reversing camera and smartphone integration technology are all included, along with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and suede upholstery.
Kia Sportage alternatives
Still not convinced? Here are some other options for you to consider:
- Hyundai Tucson: The styling won’t suit everyone, but the Tucson is roomy and high-tech.
- Volkswagen Tiguan: Roomy and high-tech inside, and there’s lots of kit, but it doesn’t come cheap.
- Skoda Karoq: Spacious inside, solidly made and quite comfortable, but a little bit dull.
