Why should you consider the Leapmotor C10?

The Leapmotor C10 is a family SUV that majors on value for money, passenger space and standard equipment. Designed to look more upmarket than its price tag would suggest, the C10 gets a minimalist interior with a massive central touchscreen, although some of the tech is fiddly at times.

Nevertheless, the C10 is well made, and it comes with loads of equipment as standard. Heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof and a 360-degree reversing camera are all included, as are 20-inch alloy wheels and wireless phone charging. There are some odd things missing, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but it makes up for that with apps such as Spotify built into the touchscreen.

There’s just one battery option – a 69.9kWh battery that powers a 218hp electric motor – and there’s no all-wheel-drive version, but the official range of 263 miles on a charge is reasonable and the car is easy to drive, especially in town. It isn’t so good on a twisty road, partly because the driver assistance technology interferes so readily, but it’s quiet and hushed on the motorway.
