This is the new MG S6 EV, and you’re not supposed to be able to see it yet. It was revealed during crash testing by Euro NCAP, and this electric SUV came away with the maximum five-star safety rating.

The S6 EV is larger than the S5 EV, and it’ll provide a budget-friendly alternative to the Tesla Model Y and Skoda Enyaq. A full reveal is expected before the end of 2025, and it may cost less than £40,000.

New MG S6 EV design: it’s as you’d expect

There is nothing revolutionary about the way the new MG S6 EV looks – it’s like an S5 but a bit bigger.

Up front you have a similar light design, with the main beams hidden in the lower bumper and some slim daytime running lights higher up. The rear is slightly more distinctive, with an LED light bar. That said, it does look very similar to the Smart #3.

There’s a sneaky glimpse of the interior in the crash test video, and you can see a big digital driver’s display and the same steering wheel as the MG S5 EV. If that car is anything to go by, there should be a 12.8-inch infotainment system as well.

New MG S6 EV motors and batteries

There are no official details about what’s under the skin of this MG S6 EV, but it’s likely to share parts with the smaller S5 EV.

That means you can expect to see a 231hp electric motor powering the rear wheels, however this larger SUV could use a bigger battery than the S5 to extend the range, something it would need if it’s going to compete with the Tesla Model Y.

The S5 EV uses a 64kWh battery which delivers 298 miles of range. With a slightly larger battery the S6 could get close to 350 miles on a charge, 40 miles more than a basic Model Y.

When can I buy the new MG S6 EV?

This budget-friendly electric car is due to be revealed (officially) by the end of this year, with deliveries expected to start in early 2026.

MG hasn’t put a price on this car yet, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it’ll undercut similarly-sized alternatives like the Tesla Model Y. A sub-£40,000 price tag is therefore likely.
