Car changing is a big deal
Which used cars are drivers most interested in? These are the 10 most popular second-hand models enquired about on Carwow in the first quarter of 2026.
We’ve taken a closer look at what Carwow users have been searching for over the past three months, based on enquiries on our platform. This comes as recent SMMT data reveals the UK’s top 10 best-selling used cars so far this year.
While hatchbacks dominate overall used car sales, according to the SMMT, our data shows SUVs remain firmly in demand among buyers. Meanwhile, Chinese cars are absent from the top 10, as are electric vehicles.
But which models made the cut? Read on to find out.

1. Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage attracted the most enquiries on Carwow in the first quarter of the year. It offers a premium-feeling cabin, spacious rear seats, and a decent boot. While it’s a well-equipped and practical family car, it isn’t especially exciting to drive and is less efficient than some of its alternatives.
2. Nissan Qashqai

In second place is an SUV that’s one of the most popular cars in the UK for a reason. Not only does it look handsome, it’s easy to drive with a great hybrid option too. It’s also got a practical, solid interior and comes with lots of standard kit. That said, the boot space in the Qashqai is smaller than alternatives and it’s not the most fun to drive.
3. Hyundai Tucson

Rounding off our podium is the Hyundai Tucson. This SUV ticks all of the family car boxes with its interior quality, practicality and huge boot. It’s pretty stylish inside too, with a range of petrol and hybrid engines to choose from. However, the looks of this SUV on the outside are a bit jarring and it’s not the most fun to drive.
4. Range Rover Evoque

Posh, desirable and genuinely capable off-road, the Range Rover Evoque is a great all-rounder. The boot is also a very good size and it’s great to drive. However, it’s rather expensive, and the interior feels plain and uninspiring. Consider a plug-in hybrid version as they are really economical.
5. Volvo XC40

While it may be one of the older SUVs on sale, the Volvo XC40 still looks smart, is comfortable to drive, and offers plenty of space for passengers. That said, it has an ageing interior design and some trims feel a bit below par. You also might find the infotainment system a little fiddly to use.
6. Mercedes A-Class

Up next is a good-looking hatchback with a premium badge up front. The Mercedes A-Class is easy and relaxing to drive, offers decent interior storage, and comes with petrol, diesel and hybrid engine options. However, interior build quality and materials disappoint, and the boot could be larger.
7. BMW 3 Series

It may be something of a predictable choice, but there’s a reason the BMW 3 Series continues to attract high enquiry numbers. It’s a brilliant all-rounder, one of the best cars in its class to drive, and the Touring estate version is especially practical. However, plug-in hybrid models lose a significant amount of boot space, and there are no physical buttons for the climate controls.
8. Volkswagen Golf

Next up is an iconic hatchback that’s comfortable, sensible and easy to drive. The Volkswagen Golf also has a great choice of efficient engines and a touchscreen that’s quick and responsive. However, its styling is rather dull, interior space is only average, and optional extras can quickly become expensive.
9. BMW 1 Series

Carwow users just can’t seem to get enough of BMW, with another model from the German brand making its way into the top 10. The 1 Series may be BMW’s smallest car, but it’s a posh hatchback with a high-quality interior, top-notch tech, and is great fun to drive. That said, it’s not as comfortable as some alternatives, and the rear seats aren’t the most spacious.
10. Audi A3 Sportback

Rounding off our top 10 most-enquired-about models on Carwow is the Audi A3 Sportback. This stylish hatchback comes well equipped and has excellent interior build quality. However, there are more affordable and practical alternatives, and it’s not the most entertaining car to drive on a twisty road.
