This four-door electric saloon is great to drive and looks brilliant, and you can save £10,000 on one at Carwow.

Chinese manufacturers are flooding the UK car market with new models, and some are considerably better than others. The BYD Seal is one of the best of them all, with its sleek design, impressive road manners and great standard specification. In fact, it’s one of the best cars in its class.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

Why should you consider the BYD Seal?

Although the Seal has been criticised for looking a little too similar to the Porsche Taycan, is that really such a bad thing? The streamlined shape is an attractive one in my eyes, and it’s matched by a minimalist and high-tech interior. Yes, some of the tech is a bit awkward to use when you’re driving and interior space isn’t that great, but it’s well made and it looks good.

You also get a sizeable 83kWh battery that’s sufficient for a claimed range of more than 300 miles, regardless of which motor option you choose. And whether you pick the 313hp ‘base’ model or the more powerful 530hp version, you’ll have plenty of power and performance to play with.

And that power is matched by a driving experience that’s remarkably sporty. Some cars from upstart brands struggle to compete with more established rivals in terms of ride and handling, but not the Seal. It corners tidily and rides really well, especially around town. Sure, it becomes a bit jittery at higher speeds, but that’s a small price to pay for such agility on a good back road.

Buy a used BYD Seal from £32,500

The BYD Seal starts at around £43,000, but you can save £10,000 by choosing a second-hand example from Carwow. With used prices from £32,495, it makes a lot of sense, particularly when that pays for a 2024 car with fewer than 2,000 miles on the clock. You get lots of kit, too, including a rotating touchscreen, a reversing camera and heated seats, as well as climate control and the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration systems.

BYD Seal alternatives

Still not convinced? Here are some other options for you to consider:

  • Kia EV6: Cool styling and a long range set it apart from the crowd, but the boot could be bigger.
  • Tesla Model 3: Tesla’s saloon offers a huge range and lots of tech, but that tech dominates a bit too much.
  • Porsche Taycan: Sensational to drive and beautifully made, but not that spacious in saloon form.
