Car changing is a big deal
This is the new Denza Z – an all-electric supercar from the BYD spin-off brand which is packing a lot of new technology. News Editor Jamie Edkins tells you everything we know so far.

- Electric supercar to rival the Porsche 911
- Design remains the same as the concept car
- May have over 1,000hp
- New steer-by-wire system
- Full reveal expected next year
Our spy photographer has captured an exciting new electric supercar at the fearsome Nurburgring in Germany. It’s the new Denza Z, and it could have around 1,000hp and a clever new steer-by-wire system.
It was revealed in concept form at the 2025 Shanghai motor show, and Denza, which is a sub brand of Chinese car giant BYD, is also bringing a premium electric GT car to Europe soon.

New Denza Z spotted testing: design
Denza revealed a concept version of the Z earlier this year, but this is the first sighting of the production car. You can already tell that it’ll retain the concept’s styling.

Those sleek headlights look similar to the old Lamborghini Aventador, and it has an aggressive-looking lower bumper with massive air intakes and a splitter to channel air under the car.

You can’t miss the enormous rear wing either, which is pretty much the same as the concept’s. The diamond-shaped taillights are a nice touch as well, although the rear diffuser does look slightly toned-down compared to the concept car.
New Denza Z spotted testing: motors and performance
Denza hasn’t revealed any power figures for the Z yet, but it could share parts with the Z9 GT. That car has close to 1,000hp courtesy of three electric motors, and it’ll do 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds.

The Z supercar will be much lighter than the four-door Z9 GT, so with this much power it could do 0-60mph in under 2.5 seconds.
Denza is also working on a new steer-by-wire system, which is similar to the setup used in the Tesla Cybertruck. It means there’s no physical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels, which allows the steering wheel to fold away in the event of an accident which reduces the chance of injury.
New Denza Z spotted testing: when can I buy one?
The new Denza Z is expected to go on sale in 2026, but it’s not been confirmed for the UK yet. If it does come to our shores, you can expect a price tag of well over £100,000.
