Renault Zoe (2013-2019) interior

Hi-tech displays and slick start-up sequences emphasis the point you’re in a ultra modern electric car

The Renault Zoe has a broad modern dashboard, shiny plastic centre console and funky heating controls that’s standard fare in Renault cars today.

The Zoe marks itself out, however, with a bright digital display replaces the analogue dials giving the car an upmarket feel. Its customisable display emits a bright green glow when you hit the Eco button that can prove slightly blinding at night, however.

Material quality is a little disappointing, though. The dashboard and door trims feel particularly scratchy and models fitted with pale-coloured interior parts look clinical and cold. Glossy plastic trim on the centre console and a leather steering wheel are welcome additions.

Looks great yet feels a bit cheap

The ‘R-Link’ infotainment system takes pride of place in the Renault Zoe’s dash. Its 7.0-inch touchscreen display is bright and sharp and its menus are easy to flick through on the move. All models come fitted with sat nav as standard that’s easy to use and not easily flummoxed by the odd diversion.

The Renault Zoe also has its own smartphone app that offers door-to-door sat nav directions and tracks down public charging points if you find yourself running a little low on electrical power.

Frustratingly, you can get the Renault Zoe with Android Auto but not Apple CarPlay.

The standard stereo is OK, but if you want a Bose premium sound system, you need to upgrade to Signature Nav trim.
