Subaru is coming out with three new electric SUVs, and they’re all twinned with Toyota models.

Until 2022, Subaru didn’t sell a single electric car. Three years ago it launched the Solterra, essentially a re-badged Toyota bZ4X, and now it’s been heavily updated with refreshed styling, more power and better range.

Alongside the new Solterra, Subaru is also launching two all-new electric models. The new E-Outback is based on the Toyota bZ4X Touring, and there’s also the Uncharted – Subaru’s version of the new Toyota C-HR+.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

New Subaru E-Outback

This is the new Subaru E-Outback, and it’s the first of the brand’s electric cars to share a name with one of its petrol-powered models. It’s essentially a Toyota bZ4X Touring with a Subaru badge on the nose, although there are a few styling tweaks which are unique to this car.

The headlights are slightly different and the E-Outback has more rugged-looking front and rear bumpers. This blue paint scheme is also unique to the E-Outback.

It has dual electric motors, all-wheel drive and 375hp – exactly the same as the Toyota bZ4X Touring. The E-Outback also uses the same 75kWh battery as the Toyota, giving it up to 280 miles of range.

The new Subaru E-Outback will go on sale at the start of 2026, however prices haven’t been announced just yet. Given that this is essentially a bigger Subaru Solterra, you can expect it to fetch a premium over that car. Somewhere around £55,000 seems likely.

New Subaru Uncharted

Next up we have the Subaru Uncharted, which is heavily based on the new Toyota C-HR+. We’ve had an up-close look at the Toyota, so you can check out our initial impressions of that car to get an idea of what this Subaru will be like.

Like the E-Outback, the Uncharted has a few Subaru-specific styling tweaks such as different headlights, chunky bumpers and bright paint jobs. The interior looks pretty much the same though, although this car has a square steering wheel.

The technical specs are pretty much exactly the same as the Toyota’s. Entry-level models get a 58kWh battery, 277 miles of range and front-wheel drive. For the best range you’ll want the 77kWh battery with front-wheel drive – that car can go for 364 miles between charges.

If you’d like to take your electric SUV off the beaten track, there’s an all-wheel drive version as well. There is a range penalty on account of the extra electric motor – this version can do 292 miles on a charge.

The new Subaru Uncharted will go on sale in the first half of 2026, which is around the same time as the Toyota C-HR+. Prices will be confirmed closer to the launch, however you can expect it to start from under £40,000.

New Subaru Solterra

Finally there’s the new Solterra, a heavily-revised version of the brand’s first electric car. The styling has been revised, with a new, cleaner front bumper which loses the old car’s fake grille surround.

It’s also been given a power boost. The all-wheel drive version goes from 220hp to 338hp, so it’s a significant increase which slashes the 0-62mph time by a whopping 1.8 seconds. It’ll now complete the sprint in 5.1 seconds.

There’s also a bigger battery on board which, combined with some tweaks to improve efficiency, boosts the range from 289 miles to 310 miles. The new Subaru Solterra will go on sale at the end of 2025, and you can expect prices to start from around £50,000.
