A car that feels most at home
The Citroen e-c3 is worth considering if you’re after an electric car that’s very affordable and easy to drive. It has a blend of SUV and hatchback styling, which makes it more appealing to the eye. The interior is rather striking too, with a floating 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen surrounded by a fabric trim that adds a bit of pizzazz.
You also get plenty of headroom inside, and the cabin feels spacious upfront thanks to the dashboard’s set-back design. You get loads of space in the back too. But while the 310-litre boot is an adequate size, we find the shape to be rather awkward and there’s a huge hump in the floor when the rear seats are folded down.
Around town is where the e-C3 works best, being easy to manoeuvre around narrow roads and with strong regenerative braking. Go onto the motorway though, and it feels wallowy when making lane changes and turning on slip roads. Another drawback is that you only get up to 200 miles of range – so it may not be for you if you do frequent long-distance road trips.
