Car changing is a big deal

The free, easy way to change your car online

This family EV has more than 300 miles of range, room for all the family and is super-comfy to drive. Here’s why Mat reckons you should take advantage of big Carwow savings on the Citroen e-C5 Aircross

Not enough cars are designed to be comfy these days. Everybody wants them to be sporty or rugged, with big alloy wheels for style, so what happens? They don’t ride over bumps very well.

That’s not the case with the Citroen e-C5 Aircross, which has been designed from the ground up to be comfortable and cossetting. On top of that, it’s a really good electric family car – and great value too, with Carwow savings taken into account. Here are a few good reasons you should buy this car, as well as three annoying features you might want to take note of.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

Three good things about the Citroen e-C5 Aircross

1. It’s as comfy as a limo

Citroen used to be famous for its hydraulic suspension in cars such as the DS and CX, which endowed them with a so-called ‘magic carpet’ ride quality.. Well, the e-C5 Aircross has a bit of those cars’ spirit in the way it covers ground, because it’s absolutely superb at absorbing the lumps and bumps of British tarmac.

2. It looks great

There’s nothing boring or dull about the styling of the e-C5 Aircross – it looks totally different to a lot of generic, blobby SUVs with its sharp lines, distinctive lights and finned taillights. It’s a really tidy design, especially since Citroen’s not relying on a load of glitzy chrome trim.

3. It’s a really practical family car

With its 565-litre boot and massive rear legroom, the Citroen e-C5 Aircross has a distinct practicality advantage over family favourites such as the Volkswagen ID4 or Nissan Qashqai. You’ll have no trouble with bulky car seats or loading all the family’s kit and clobber for a weekend away.

Citroen e-C5 Aircross deals

The Citroen e-C5 Aircross range starts at £34,085 for the smaller-battery model in ‘You’ trim, but through Carwow this version’s available for just £30,438. Even without the saving it would still be great value.

The biggest discounts are to be found on the next rung up, though, because you can save more than £4,500 on the ‘Plus’ model which adds keyless entry, a rear-view camera, ambient lighting and nicer interior trim. This car is available from just £32,193, and with the 73kWh battery pack is capable of up to 359 miles of range. If you need a bit extra, you can go for the same trim level with the larger, 420-mile battery for £38,525.

Three annoying things about the Citroen e-C5 Aircross

1. The infotainment system isn’t great

The e-C5 Aircross gets a big 13.0-inch infotainment screen in the centre of the dash which looks great – but it’s just not very slick. Key functions are buried within menus, the on-screen climate controls are a bit difficult to use and we’ve found it quite glitchy in the past.

2. The storage is a bit of a pain

Whoever at Citroen decided that the e-C5’s cupholders should be underneath the rest of the dashboard – we’d like a word. They’re awkward to reach, especially when you’re driving, and the single one up top isn’t big enough for a large cup or tumbler. The glove box lid also opens awkwardly wide, and the wireless phone charging pad leaves your device right in the sun where it can get nice and hot.

3. You’ll struggle to match the claimed range

The e-C5 Aircross has pretty fantastic quoted range figures. The truth is you’re more likely to see about 250 miles from the smaller battery and 320 miles from the larger – still useful distances, but nowhere near the advertised figure. It doesn’t charge very fast, either, and you’ll be waiting more than half an hour for a 10-80% topup.
