There’s a new Dacia Duster pickup truck! But you can’t buy one…

Car changing is a big deal
That’s right, Dacia has lopped the back off a Duster to make a quirky-looking pickup truck. It’s only for the Romanian market, although there is a new Duster van which you can buy in the UK.
A Dacia pickup truck wasn’t on our 2025 automotive bingo card, but here we are. This is the new Duster pickup, and it looks exactly how you’d expect it to.
It’ll take up to 430kg in that stubby bed, but don’t get too excited because you won’t be able to buy one in the UK. If you’re after a rugged-looking load-lugger, though, a new Duster van is going on sale here.

New Dacia Duster pickup: price and specs
As you’d expect, the biggest change made to this car is found at the rear with that new pickup bed. It measures one metre long and one metre wide, making it around half a metre shorter than a Ford Ranger’s load area. This isn’t going to be competing with full-size pickup trucks.
The maximum load capacity stands at just 430kg, so don’t expect to be able to stack this thing full of bricks. You can carry up to four people though, because the cab is basically the same as the passenger version of the Duster.
You’ll be able to choose between the 1.8-litre hybrid engine or the 1.2-litre petrol with four-wheel drive. The latter is likely to be more popular for hauling kit over rough terrain.
Prices start from just under 26,000 euros, which translates to around £22,500. Don’t go reaching for your wallet just yet though, because the Dacia Duster pickup is only available in Romania for now.
New Dacia Duster Cargo: the rugged van you can buy in the UK
If you’re after a small van which looks just like a car, then good news. There’s now a Dacia Duster Cargo on sale in the UK. Prices for this new commercial 4×4 start from just under £28,700.
It’s essentially just a Duster with the rear seats removed. You also get a mesh bulkhead behind the front seats to separate you from your cargo, and the rear windows have also been blacked out to prevent unsavoury characters from peering in.
The payload is exactly the same as the Duster pickup, 430kg, and you get 1,149 litres of space in the back. There’s a completely flat wooden floor to make it easier to slide things in and out.
You can choose between a 1.2-litre petrol engine with four-wheel drive and a manual gearbox, or a hybrid setup with front-wheel drive which will be better-suited for urban work.
All cars come as standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED daytime running lights and a digital driver’s display.
