About the MINI Cooper Electric

The Mini Electric is a small electric car that’s great if you’re looking for something to get you around the city in style, but it’s not particularly practical and its mediocre range means road trips might be a bit of a faff.

It’s fairly roomy up front by small car standards, and has a really cool interior with fabric covering the dashboard and a large circular infotainment display. It’s a bit of a squeeze in the back seats though, and the boot is tiny.

The Mini Electric is great fun to drive on a twisty road, but the suspension is quite stiff, so it has a tendency to jiggle and jostle over bumps. This can be a bit annoying around town too, but otherwise its small dimensions and electric motors make it ideal for city driving.

Entry-level models are called ‘E’ and have a range of 190 miles, while the ‘SE’ model costs a bit more but has a bigger battery and a range of up to 249 miles. That’s not terrible for a small car, but a fully loaded Mini Electric is a similar price to the MG4 EV’s Extended Range version, which can go 323 miles between charges.
