1. Peugeot 5008 – 89.17%

Taking the top spot is the Peugeot 5008, a handsome seven-seater that stands out for its practicality. A spacious cabin, sliding middle-row seats and plenty of clever storage make it easy to adapt for passengers or luggage, while a 348-litre boot with all seven seats in place ensures it’s well equipped for busy family life.
Owners praised it most for its practicality and generous space. One owner said, “It’s a great family car, with a lot of space,” while another described it as “Very comfortable with plenty of room.” Others highlighted its versatility, with one commenting, “The car is very spacious and still allows for decent storage when all the seats are utilised,” and another adding, “It’s roomy with seven seats, always a bonus with friends and family trips.”
2. Vauxhall Grandland – 88.55%

Claiming second place is the Vauxhall Grandland, thanks to its spacious and family-friendly interior. There’s plenty of room inside, with generous front-seat space and enough rear legroom for six-foot adults to sit comfortably. Its 550-litre boot is slightly larger than average for the class, while thoughtful storage solutions, including large compartments and adjustable cup holders, add to its everyday practicality.
Owners are equally positive about the Grandland’s usability. As one said, “It’s a lovely car, very roomy, with a good size boot.” Family buyers also praised its versatility, with one owner commenting, “I like the size of the car as it helps when I’m transporting my three grandchildren,” and another adding, “Good boot space which for me was very important.”
3. Hyundai Tucson – 88.46%

The Hyundai Tucson rounds out the top three for practicality and boot space, combining a roomy cabin with one of the largest boots in the class. There’s plenty of space for passengers front and rear, while the boot offers between 558 and 620 litres of capacity depending on the engine. This expands to as much as 1,799 litres with the rear seats folded, making it a strong choice for family life.
Owners also praised the Tucson for its comfort and everyday usability. One respondent said: “It’s comfortable to drive with lots of room in the back,” while another commented, “Very well equipped and comfortable, and easy to drive.” A third owner summed it up simply: “It’s an excellent choice for space and comfort.”
4. Ford Kuga – 88.41%

The Ford Kuga might have just missed out on the podium, but it’s still highly rated by owners for its practicality. There’s plenty of space for passengers front and rear, with wide-opening back doors, a sliding rear bench to balance passenger and boot room, and supportive seats that make it comfortable on longer journeys.
The Kuga’s practicality extends to its boot, which gives you up to 526 litres of luggage capacity and a flat load floor that makes lifting heavy items in and out easier. Owners loved its spaciousness, with comments including, “I like that it’s big and spacious”, and “It’s got good headroom, a comfortable ride height and cabin room.”
5. Vauxhall Frontera – 87.88%

Rounding out the top five is the Vauxhall Frontera. It has a spacious cabin with generous headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers. Even six-foot adults can sit comfortably behind one another, while the 460-litre boot is easy to load and includes a useful underfloor storage compartment. Up front, there are large door bins, although rear-seat storage is limited and the glovebox is on the small side.
Owners also praise the Frontera’s practicality in everyday use. One owner said, “It has a good amount of room in the cabin,” while another commented, “It’s roomy and easy to drive.” A third added, “Size is great, with a big boot and interior. There’s also great visibility from inside the car.”
6. MG HS – 87.78%

This spacious and well-equipped SUV has also made it into the top 10. The MG HS has generous space for both front and rear passengers, supportive seats and plenty of everyday storage. Rear occupants benefit from a flat floor, large windows and useful touches such as USB ports and cupholders, while the 507-litre boot provides ample room for luggage, shopping or pushchairs, making it a strong choice for family life.
Owners are complimentary about its practicality, praising its value and comfort. One respondent said it was, “Practical and comes at a reasonable price,” while another highlighted “Style is great with good storage.” Others praised the cabin comfort, saying it’s “very comfortable, the interior is nice,” and summed up its family appeal with the comment: “It’s safe and a good size for our family.”
7. Tesla Model Y – 87.71%

Tesla Model Y owners rate this efficient electric SUV highly for its practicality. Many praised its spacious cabin, generous rear-seat room and wide-opening doors, making it comfortable for passengers and easy for family use. Clever storage throughout the cabin also adds to its everyday usability.
Owners also highlighted the Model Y’s class-leading 854-litre boot, which offers exceptional luggage capacity alongside useful underfloor storage. While some criticised the lack of a parcel shelf and a few cost-cutting interior details, most agreed its practicality is one of the car’s biggest strengths.
8. Peugeot 3008 – 87.23%

Another Peugeot makes it into the top 10, this time in the form of the posh 3008. This SUV has got plenty of cabin storage including large central cubbies, cupholders and a cooled compartment under the armrest. The driving position is easy to tailor for most drivers, while the cabin feels cosy rather than cramped up front. Although rear-seat space is tighter, the 520-litre boot is deep enough to handle the weekly shop and everyday family duties with ease.
One owner said: “Interior layout and load space is perfect,” while another praised that “Boot space is great for carrying wheelchairs and household shopping.” Others added that there’s “Lots of room in it when carrying passengers,” and they “Like the size of the car, interior design, dashboard layout and visibility of all controls.”
9. Peugeot 308 – 87.09%

Also making it into the top 10 is the Peugeot 308. Its cabin is practical and premium-feeling, with plenty of storage. The spacious glovebox and neat cabin design add to its upmarket appeal. While rear seat space is not class-leading, the 308 remains practical for everyday use, with useful storage and a 412-litre boot that beats many alternatives. The square load area and easy-folding seats make it versatile, although we think some features could be easier to access.
Owners were impressed by the 308’s overall package, highlighting its “Style, Interior, Comfortable cabin, Great technology and Driving position”. Another owner praised its “lovely interior and exterior design, small steering wheel, reliable, comfortable” driving experience.
10. Volkswagen Tiguan – 86.52%

Rounding out our list is the Volkswagen Tiguan. It’s a highly practical family SUV, with a spacious cabin, comfortable seating and plenty of storage throughout. The front seats provide excellent adjustment for a wide range of drivers, while rear passengers benefit from generous legroom, headroom and flexible seating options, making it well suited to family life.
The Tiguan also has a massive 652-litre boot, which gives drivers plenty of room for luggage, shopping or larger family items. The flat-folding rear seats and thoughtful storage features make it easy to live with day to day, with owners praising its usability. One said “The space is good for my three kids” while another stated the Tiguan is “comfortable, spacious, easy to drive”.
