Nissan SUVs Discover the Nissan SUV range and compare new, used and leasing deals

Nissan has become a very SUV-heavy brand, not least thanks to the massive success of the Qashqai, the car that effectively created the family SUV market. With the Juke, X-Trail, and the all-electric Ariya also on sale, there’s now a broad spread of available Nissan SUV models.

Nissan SUV models: current range

Nissan has four SUVs available right now, from the small Juke to the large, seven-seat X-Trail.

Nissan Juke

The Juke is Nissan’s smallest and most outrageous-looking SUV, sticking with the divisive style of the original model. It’s well-made and frugal — especially the hybrid option — but it’s also dull to drive and cramped in the back.

Nissan Qashqai

The Nissan Qashqai has been one of the motoring world’s biggest successes since the first one was launched back in 2007. The current model is far more sophisticated, as well as being bigger and roomier. Not the most fun thing to drive, but a decent family car.

Nissan Qashqai e-POWER

The Qashqai e-POWER uses Nissan’s hybrid tech that powers the car only with an electric motor, and uses a petrol engine as a mobile generator. No need to plug-in, which is handy, but it’s not as economical as it should be.

Nissan X-Trail

The big X-Trail is like a super-sized Qashqai with optional seats for seven. Four-wheel drive models can cope with mild off-roading, and the cabin is classy (aside from some awful touchscreens).

Nissan X-Trail e-POWER

Like the smaller Qashqai e-POWER, the X-Trail is driven only by an electric motor (or two, if you get the four-wheel drive version which has more power) while a small petrol engine acts as a generator. Clever stuff, but it could be more economical.

Nissan Ariya

The Ariya is Nissan’s all-electric SUV, and it gets super-smooth styling inside and out, and is a very comfortable car to cruise around in. Big-battery version gets decent range, but it’s not as good all-round as the distantly-related Renault Scenic.

Nissan Ariya Nismo

The Ariya Nismo gets Nissan’s hallowed motorsports badge, and 435hp from two electric motors. It’s quick — 0-62mph in 5.0 seconds — but it’s not exciting to drive, and it’s uncomfortable over bumps.

Nissan SUV FAQs

By some distance, the Nissan Qashqai is the company’s best-selling SUV. In Britain alone, we bought more than 40,000 new Qashqais last year.
Generally speaking, all of Nissan’s models are at least fairly reliable, although both the Juke and the Qashqai received, at best, a middling rating for quality and reliability from UK car buyers in the most recent Driver Power survey.
Yes, it is — it rides higher up than a hatchback and has a slightly higher seating position. However, it’s one of those SUVs that really is more of a hatchback with attitude than a proper Land Rover rival.
Yes, it does — it’s the Nissan Ariya, which is a sleek five-seat electric SUV, with a choice of two battery sizes and a maximum range of up to 330 miles on one charge.
In Europe, Nissan’s biggest SUV is the X-Trail, which is 4.6 metres long and has optional seating for seven.
