Car changing is a big deal
This is the new Omoda X, and it’s an off-road concept SUV with bold styling and some impressive new tech. Here’s everything you need to know about this car.
The new Omoda X has just been unveiled in China. It’s an off-road SUV concept with impressive ground clearance and wading abilities, as well as night vision to help you see hazards in the dark.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
New Omoda X design
The Omoda X builds on the design of the new Omoda 4, a small hybrid SUV which is coming to the UK next year. This means it’s all angles and sharp creases, but it also has some rufty-tufty black cladding to make it look tougher.

It also has a bluff nose with the headlights integrated into a black panel across the front, a bit like a Vauxhall Grandland. Those rear lights also have the same lightning bolt motif as you’ll find on the current Omoda 7.

It’s just a concept car for now, but it previews a car which will actually be built. There could be minor styling changes, but don’t expect anything drastic.
New Omoda X technology
Like many modern SUVs, the Omoda X comes with a large central touchscreen, 13.2 inches in this case, and a digital driver’s display. It also has a concept AI voice assistant which is designed to understand natural speech, and there’s a microphone system with pick-up points around the car so you and your passengers can enjoy some karaoke on the move.

It also has an infrared night-vision system with thermal imaging, and it can pick up hazards at night from up to 90 metres away.
When can I buy the new Omoda X?
The Omoda X is just a concept car for now, and it’s not been confirmed for the UK market just yet. If it does end up coming to our shores, you can expect to see a launch sometime next year.

It’s likely to use hybrid engines from other Omoda cars, such as the plug-in system in the Omoda 7, and prices could sit between the Omoda 7 and Omoda 9. That would give it a figure of around £40,000.
