The Skoda Elroq is one of the best electric family cars I’ve driven, and with monthly leasing prices like this it’s well worth considering

It’s really difficult to make an electric family car because they really have to be a go-anywhere, do-anything workhorse. But Skoda did a brilliant job with the Elroq. It’s a good-looking EV that’s roomy and practical, good to drive and superbly family-friendly – and if you’re looking into monthly leasing costs, it’s amazing value too.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

Skoda Elroq: three good things about this sensible family SUV

Skoda has built some of our favourite cars for years, and the Elroq is definitely one of those. Here are three great reasons you should have it on your shortlist.

1. It’s packed with ‘Simply Clever’ features

Skoda’s ‘Simply Clever’ tagline isn’t just ad spiel. Instead it’s a genuine descriptor of some of the neat touches the brand includes in its cars. The Elroq has a hidden ice scraper (including a tyre tread depth gauge) in the tailgate and an umbrella in the front door. The cupholders feature nubs to help you open bottles one-handed, and the seat pockets have a separate slot for a smartphone. Our favourite is the net underneath the parcel shelf, which provides the perfect place to store your charging cable.

2. You’ll go a long way on a charge

The Elroq comes with a couple of different battery sizes, with the smaller one returning a claimed range of about 260 miles on a charge – 200 miles in the real world, more than enough for even the roughest commute. If you want to do longer distances, check out the ‘85’ model, which has a range of up to 355 miles on a charge or about 300 in the real world.

3. It’s super-comfy on a long drive

Comfort in the Elroq takes a few forms. First, it’s really spacious for both front and rear-seat passengers, with room to spread out even if you’re six feet tall. Second, it’s nice and quiet even at speed. And third, the suspension copes really well with lumps and bumps on a long journey, so big motorway trips are really relaxing.

Skoda Elroq lease deals: the big reason to choose this car

The real hook for this car is the price. Even if you’re paying cash it’s very reasonable – prices start from not much over £30,000, and even the big battery model is well below £40,000. But you’ll get seriously good value if you’re planning on leasing an Elroq instead.

Right now on Carwow you can lease a Skoda Elroq for just £249 per month with a £3,275 initial payment. Over three years, that’ll cost you just under £12,000. By contrast, a Kia EV3 would cost you more than £16,500 on the same terms, with a higher initial payment and monthly fee. Both of those are 36-month contracts with a 5,000 per year mileage limit – though you can extend that to 10,000 miles a year for not much more.

If you want the Elroq with the bigger battery, you can have that for £301 per month with an initial payment of just under £4,000 – so it’s still significantly cheaper over three years than even the small-battery Kia EV3.

That’s a fantastic deal for one of our top-rated electric cars – it’s so good we gave it a ‘Highly Commended’ gong in the 2026 Carwow Car of the Year awards.

Three annoying things about the Skoda Elroq

The Elroq, like everything else, isn’t perfect – here are three things you ought to know about before test-driving. We reckon they’re easily overlooked for the price, though.

1. It’s not as comfortable round town

The Elroq’s brilliant on faster roads, but round town it can become a bit unstuck by rough roads, potholes and speed bumps. It’s by no means the worst EV we’ve driven in this regard, but if you want something with a really cushioned ride round town consider a Citroen e-C5 Aircross instead.

2. It feels its price in places

This is another criticism you can level at almost any electric car of this price, but the Elroq’s interior isn’t all the highest quality. Most of the bits you touch feel nice, but you don’t need to poke and prod too far before you find some nasty, scratchy plastics – think lower on the centre console and doors, or in the rear seat area.

3. The touchscreen isn’t the best

For a brand as sensible as Skoda it’s a shame the Elroq leans so hard into touchscreen controls – they just don’t work as well as buttons and dials. The Elroq’s screen isn’t the worst, but it’s still frustrating to have to adjust the climate controls and safety features through the screen when the old way was so much quicker and easier.
