Is brown a popular colour for cars?

No, it’s not. Brown has made something of a comeback in recent years, but in terms of the number of cars sold with brown paint, there were so few in 2024, that the UK official numbers register them as ‘others’. However, bronze paint - which is kind of brown - did quite well, with 5,500 cars sold in 2024.

How rare are brown cars?

Pretty rare. Going by the 2024 UK sales figures, only one in every 357 new cars was painted brown.

Are brown cars cheaper?

Not necessarily. While colour can have an impact on resale or trade-in value, brown, although it’s not a hugely popular colour, is probably dark enough that it won’t have a huge impact.
