Grey cars FAQs

Grey has become a hugely popular car colour largely because it’s associated with sophistication, and often with high-end luxury cars, especially German ones. Equally, it’s a neutral colour, so more people are likely to accept it than, say, a bright yellow.

Statistically, grey cars are more likely to be involved in an accident, but that’s probably more to do with grey being such a popular colour — there are more grey cars out there to have an accident. Saab did once suggest that grey or silver cars were harder to see in rainy or foggy conditions, but with modern daytime running lights that’s probably less of an issue.

It doesn’t really mean anything, but it might suggest that you’re a sensible person, keeping an eye on resale value, and that you appreciate technology and luxury.

The biggest downside to driving a grey car is that so does almost everyone else, so good luck finding your grey Qashqai if you’ve forgotten where you parked.

No, all cars get dirty pretty much the same amount, but lighter shades of grey and silver, can hide some dirt and road grime more effectively, so they appear to get dirty less.
