Car changing is a big deal
I really like Volkswagen’s seven-seat SUV. The Tayron is big, bold and more affordable than you might think if you shop for a used example through Carwow
The Volkswagen Tayron hasn’t been around all that long, but cars are starting to appear on the used market. Go for a nearly new Tayron and you can drop the price to less than £40,000.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
Used Volkswagen Tayron deals
The VW is a bit pricey as a new car. It starts from £41,010, which is a little more than most alternatives.
There are already savings if you buy used. You can buy a low-mileage 2025 car for £38,990 through Carwow.
That buys you a 1.5 TSI R-Line with 4,600 miles on the clock. The same car bought new would be £44,065, so that saves more than £5,000 compared with a new car.

R-Line comes with more toys than the basic Life spec cars, including larger alloy wheels, heated front seats with a massage function, ambient interior lighting, and sports seats. It also has a sporty-looking body kit for extra road presence.
If you want a car with fewer miles, I’ve spotted a Tayron with just 93 miles on the clock for sale through Carwow.
Used Volkswagen Tayron: review in brief
Think of the Tayron as a bigger version of the Tiguan. It’s a very similar car, but with more space inside. Most versions have seven seats, although the plug-in hybrid models only have room for five. These plug-in versions are still rare on used car forecourts.
The looks go a long way towards selling the Tayron. It’s handsome but understated – exactly what you’d expect of a Volkswagen. Inside you’ll need to be a true VW anorak to spot any differences between the Tayron and Tiguan dashboards, but that’s no bad thing.

The Tayron’s cabin has a classy finish and plenty of space. The 1.5-litre engine is really all you need, with solid performance and impressive economy. Whichever engine you go for, the Tayron drives well without being outstanding in any one area. It’s like a German centre-back who rarely wins man of the match but never has a bad game.
Volkswagen Tayron alternatives
Not sure if the Tayron is exactly what you are looking for? Try one of these instead.
Hyundai Santa Fe

The eye-catching Santa Fe has lots of space and a choice of hybrid or plug-in hybrid power. It’s comfy rather than fun from the driver’s seat.
Peugeot 5008

There’s lots of space for five in the 5008, with two extra seats for occasional use. The cabin is stylish and well made, but the infotainment is fiddly to use.
Skoda Kodiaq

Very similar to the Tayron, but a little cheaper. Just don’t expect much excitement from the way the Kodiaq looks or drives.
