The best Citroen C5 Aircross alternatives to buy if you want a new SUV now

August 05, 2025 by

This is the new Citroen C5 Aircross, and it’s the latest version of the brand’s flagship SUV. It’ll be available with either hybrid or electric power, and the interior is a huge step up over the rather dated cabin of the outgoing car.

Prices start from £30,500 for the petrol version, or £34,000 if you fancy electric power. The e-C5 Aircross is also one of the first EVs to be officially eligible for the government’s new electric car grant.

First deliveries will start in October this year, but if you need a new family-friendly SUV right now, here are five great options to consider.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

The best Citroen C5 Aircross alternatives are:

  1. Peugeot 3008
  2. Kia Sportage
  3. Skoda Enyaq
  4. Old Citroen C5 Aircross
  5. MG HS

1. Peugeot 3008

The most logical alternative to the Citroen C5 Aircross would be the Peugeot 3008, because the two cars are pretty much identical under the skin. It’s available with either hybrid or electric power, the latter of which has an impressive 435 miles of range.

It looks fabulous, both inside and out, however the C5 Aircross does have a bigger boot and it’s significantly cheaper to buy. The hybrid-powered 3008 starts from almost £37,000, although you can save an average of £5,400 on one through Carwow at the time of writing.

2. Kia Sportage

If you’re after a practical, no-nonsense family SUV, the Kia Sportage is a great shout. It may not be as stylish as the C5 Aircross, but with loads of standard equipment and an impressive seven-year warranty the Kia is a sensible choice.

There may not be an electric version on offer, for that you’ll have to check out the Kia EV6, but you can get a plug-in hybrid with up to 30 miles of electric range. It also costs around the same as the hybrid C5 Aircross, and you can save an average of £2,400 through Carwow at the time of writing.

3. Skoda Enyaq

The Skoda Enyaq is a very sensible, if not exciting, electric SUV with a massive boot and palatial rear seats. At the time of writing you can save an average of £3,000 on an Enyaq through Carwow, however it’s still a couple of thousand pounds more than an e-C5 Aircross.

The design may not be as chic as the Citroen, but the Skoda is still a comfortable and well-equipped option with decent range.

4. Old Citroen C5 Aircross

Don’t forget about the outgoing Citroen C5 Aircross, which is still a super comfortable and great-value SUV with a massive boot. The interior does look a bit dated by modern standards, and the infotainment system isn’t great, but at least you do get plenty of standard equipment.

There are loads of these cars in stock as well, with prices starting from as little as £25,000.

5. MG HS

With prices starting from just £26,000, the MG HS is one of the best-value SUVs you can buy. All cars get adaptive cruise control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera and a digital driver’s display as standard.

You can also get a plug-in hybrid version with an impressive 75 miles of electric range, and you can save an average of £3,000 when you buy through Carwow.
