About the Kia EV9

The EV9 is Kia’s flagship model, an enormous seven-seat electric SUV, and it’s such a good car that it’s the ‘Outstanding EV’ winner of the 2025 Carwow Car of the Year awards. As far as seven-seat cars go the EV9 is a real rarity. Not only is it full electric, but it’s a genuinely comfortable SUV with plenty of space for tall adults in all three rows. Space-age looks give the big Kia a lot of presence, as do the vibrant colour options and enormous optional wheels.

There are only three trim levels available, though top-spec ‘GT-Line S’ cars can be had as a six-seater. Base-model ‘Air’ cars have a longer range than the four-wheel drive ‘GT-Line’ cars, though not by much at 349 miles vs 316.

Alternatives to the EV9 include the electric BMW iX and Volvo EX90, as well as the hybrid Hyundai Santa Fe. They’re all large, spacious SUVs with funky styling - but the EV9 still has the most striking looks and is the most practical choice. As far as large SUVs go, the EV9 really hits the sweet spot between style and practicality - but it might not be the best choice if you live in an area with tight streets.

Why lease a Kia EV9?

The Kia EV9 is a great car to lease if you want a big, comfy and practical EV that’s hassle free to live with. Where a lot of big SUVs are still reliant on big petrol engines or hybrid systems, the EV9 is a pure-electric vehicle that’s easy to do long journeys in.

Leasing an EV9 gives a lot of financial flexibility compared to a hire-purchase contract or cash purchase, with lower monthly payments than an HP deal whilst also allowing you to avoid the depreciation of an outright purchase - something that impacts big electric vehicles.

A lower base cost also means you could afford a higher-spec EV9 on a lease deal than you might be able to afford on an HP or outright purchase deal. You can easily change your car at the end of your lease, or even switch to a newer EV9 with different options if you so choose.
