Mazda 2 (2015-2019) interior
Though the main surfaces are all made of tactile materials, and top-spec Mazda 2 cars come with leather trim on the dashboard, there are some cheaper plastics elsewhere in the cabin
Style
Compared with alternatives such as the Hyundai i20, the Mazda 2 interior is a nicer place to be, thanks to upscale overall build quality and a more distinctive and attractive interior design. High spec models take things one step further by having a large part of the dashboard upholstered in soft leather.
This, however, is connected to the only notable criticism – the material quality is inconsistent. Plastics are soft and squidgy around the middle of the dashboard, but too hard and scratchy around the top of the doors, centre console and steering wheel. If the rest of the interior wasn’t so stylish and well built, this wouldn’t be such an issue.

Infotainment
Avoid the basic Mazda 2 because every other model gets a brilliant infotainment system with a 7.0-inch screen.
Unlike the Ford Fiesta’s touchscreen, the Mazda’s system is controlled via a rotary dial similarly to BMW’s iDrive. It’s easier to use on the move because you don’t need to take your eyes off the road to look at where you’re pressing.
The Mazda system is a touchscreen as well so you have plenty of ways to control it. You can also opt for Apple CarPlay which connects your phone to the infotainment system and gives you access to things such as internet radio or social media apps.
