Chery to start selling cars in the UK: new Chinese brand coming this summer
July 08, 2025 by Jamie Edkins

Car changing is a big deal
Chery International, parent company to Omoda and Jaecoo, will start selling cars in the UK this year, and its first model will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It seems as though a new Chinese brand is introduced to the UK every week, and this week it’s Chery International. If that name seems familiar, it’s because Chery also owns Omoda and Jaecoo.
Chery’s first UK models will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, both of them SUVs. They will be “UK-optimised Chery models”, which suggests that we may be getting tweaked versions of the Tiggo series of cars it sells overseas.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
What is Chery?
Chery may be a new brand to the UK, but it’s actually been around in China since 1997. It’s also the largest exporter of vehicles from China, selling over 2.6 million cars worldwide in 2024. That’s around 800,000 more than Tesla managed to shift.
It’s also the parent company to Omoda and Jaecoo. The car we know in the UK as the Omoda 5 is actually badged as the Chery Omoda 5 in other markets, so technically you’ve been able to buy a Chery for about a year now.
But now it’s coming to the UK under its own name, and you’ll be able to buy Chery cars in dealerships across the country. A lot of them will also sell Omoda and Jaecoo models, so you’ll see all three brands under one roof.
New Chery SUVs: what will they be?
Good question. Chery has remained tight-lipped on this, only going as far as to say its two new SUVs will be “optimised for the local market in specification and pricing”. This suggests that it’ll be bringing over two existing models.

It could include the Chery Tiggo 9 – a large seven-seat SUV which uses a 2.0-litre petrol engine which could go up against cars like the Skoda Kodiaq. It also sells a variety of other SUVs ranging from a Volkswagen T-Cross alternative to a Kia Sportage-sized model.
Chery will reveal its two new UK models at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in a few days time, so stay tuned to find out what it has in store.
