Car changing is a big deal
One of the best ways to ferry a large family around, the Peugeot 5008 has loads of room and is super-comfy – and it’s incredible value to lease, too
If you have a big family, then let’s face it – you need a big car, and preferably one with seven seats so that when little Hugo or Prudence want to bring a friend home from school they don’t have to take the bus. The Peugeot 5008 is one of the best options available.
I love the 5008’s roomy interior, its avant-garde looks and its high-tech dashboard. More than that, though, I love the price – because I’ve found some amazing lease deals which make this one of the best-value big cars you can buy.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
Peugeot 5008 lease deals: £237 per month is a real steal
With this Peugeot 5008 deal you could pick one up for just £237 a month. That’s a three-year contract with a 12-month initial payment of £3,224, albeit with a pretty low 5,000-mile-per-year limit. However, you can up that to 10,000 miles and still pay just £265 per month.

That deal nets you the base-spec ‘Allure’ model, but that’s not to be sniffed at. It still looks just as stylish as all the other 5008s, with 19-inch alloy wheels and that huge 21-inch curved display on the dashboard, while you get luxury kit such as keyless entry, wireless smartphone charging with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a reversing camera.
Want to lease a Skoda Kodiaq instead? It’s still very affordable, but the cheapest model will run you almost £280 a month. And there are a few reasons to pick the 5008 over its closest alternatives.
Three good things about the Peugeot 5008
1. It’s a genuine seven-seater
Okay, so a six-foot adult probably wouldn’t want to spend hours and hours in the 5008’s third row – but for children or teens it’s a great space. The middle row slides forward to give you a bit of extra room, too.
As for the second row of seats, they’re all individual rather than being one bench, which means you can slide and recline them individually.
2. It’s super-comfortable

Big French cars usually excel at comfort and the 5008 is no exception. It’s not remotely sporty, but that means it’s superb over bumps and potholes especially around town. There’s also fantastic visibility and all versions are automatic, so you can give your left leg a rest.
3. The interior looks great

Don’t think that just because you have a practical seven-seater family car you need to put up with an agricultural van and barebones interior. The 5008’s dashboard has a huge 21.0-inch screen atop it, and all the surfaces are covered in soft-touch plastic or nice fabric trim to make it feel a bit more like a stylish living room than a family bus.
Three annoying things about the Peugeot 5008
1. The engines aren’t fantastic

There are three engine options in the Peugeot 5008. The basic engine, which you get on this lease deal, is a 1.2-litre hybrid – and while it’s more than powerful enough to shift the 5008’s bulk, it is a bit noisy and clunky. The plug-in hybrid is better, but it’s much more expensive. The real star of the show is the all-electric E-5008, but the cheapest version of that will cost you £314 a month to lease.
2. The driving position won’t suit everyone

Peugeot’s ‘i-Cockpit’ arrangement consists of a tiny steering wheel, and you look over the top of it to see the dials – rather than through the rim. It’s been around for a while and though most drivers can find a suitable seating position, those with long legs may find that there’s no easy way to get the steering wheel in a comfy spot where it doesn’t block any of the instruments.
3. It’s all-touchscreen

While alternatives like the Skoda Kodiaq, Nissan X-Trail and Hyundai Santa Fe offer plenty of physical switchgear for key functions, the 5008 is almost entirely touchscreen-driven. The screen itself is big and responsive, but not all the functions are very clear – and there’s no denying that it’s easier to twiddle a knob than it is to find a tiny button on a touchscreen.
