The Skoda Peaq is a big, sensible, seven-seater electric SUV with loads of room inside, but some options are pretty expensive and it doesn’t charge very quickly

Find out more about the Skoda Peaq

Is the Skoda Peaq a good car?

The Peaq is the new crown jewel of the Skoda range (or is it the Peaq of the Skoda mountain?), and it’s an enormous seven-seater family SUV that’s all-electric, with a svelte design and decent levels of standard kit. It’s pretty pricey though, which is very un-Skoda-like, as are some of the options packs.

You can think of it as your mild-mannered colleague who’s been promoted and splurged out on some fancy new clothes, adding a blingy timepiece for the wrist. It’s just as sensible as Skodas of old on paper, but with a price tag to match its new lofty ambitions.

And considering the Peaq is more expensive than the Peugeot E-5008, Kia PV5 Passenger and even the Mercedes GLB Electric - you’d be forgiven for thinking that Skoda is flying a bit too close to the sun here. Nonetheless, the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Volkswagen ID.Buzz are all more expensive than the Skoda - so maybe it sits in the sweet spot after all.

Skoda Peaq: electric range, battery and charging data

Range: 326 - 395 miles
Efficiency: 3.4 - 4.1 mi/kWh
Battery size: 200kWh
Max charge speed: 150kW
Charge time AC: 8 hrs 6 mins, 7.4kW
Charge time DC: 28 mins, 200kW
Charge port location: Right side, rear
Power outputs: 286hp, 299hp

It certainly feels posh inside, more premium than any other Skoda on sale. The Peaq has a portrait-oriented infotainment display set against a premium, padded dashboard which is trimmed in posh leatherette. Everything feels solid, the software is slick and it looks really rather upmarket inside. It impressed us when we spent a day with a static example at the car’s launch.

Interior space is brilliant too, with easily enough room in every seat for an adult above six-feet tall to get comfortable - even in the third row. A Hyundai Ioniq 9 and its Kia counterpart are more spacious still, but the Skoda’s trump card comes in the form of a huge 828-litre boot with the last row folded away. That’s easily larger than in the Korean pair, but with all seats in place the 299-litre cargo capacity is 30 litres down on an EV9.

I'm very keen on a big Skoda, and I like a Skoda EV. I reckon the big electric Peaq will be brilliant

Range varies from 326 to 395 miles depending on which trim level you opt for, which at its maximum places the Peaq easily ahead of an Ioniq 9 or ID.Buzz for range - though a Peugeot E-5008 can travel further still.

We’ll update this review with our driving impressions once we get behind the wheel of the Peaq on British roads, but Skoda’s current range of electric cars are some of our favourites to be behind the wheel of. We’re in high hopes for what the Peaq can deliver. Maybe it’ll even be the Peaq of the bunch.

In the meantime, check out the latest Skoda Peaq deals on Carwow, as well as Peaq leasing offers and a range of used Skodas for sale through our trusted dealer network. Remember, Carwow can even help you sell your current model when it’s time to switch.

How much is the Skoda Peaq?

The Skoda Peaq costs just under £52,000 in entry-level SE L guise, rising up to £58,000 in top-rung Sportline guise. You’ll pay almost £15,000 more for a Kia EV9 which has less range but a touch more interior room, while a Volkswagen ID.Buzz can’t travel nearly as far and costs more, too.

SE L models feature 19-inch wheels, a suite of safety features and keyless entry-and-go as well as heated seats all-round. Edition 90 models get posher diamond-cut wheels, a light-up front grille, black trims and matrix LED lights, while 90x cars get four-wheel drive too. Top-spec Sportline Peaqs come with 20-inch wheels, sports seats and adaptive suspension.
