Audi A7 Sportback sizes and dimensions guide

March 30, 2016 by

The Audi A7 Sportback is a handsome four-door coupe with more style than many run-of-the-mill executive saloons. It takes on rivals including the Mercedes CLSJaguar XF and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe but how does it compare size wise? Work out if it’ll fit in your garage and how often you’ll be brimming the tank with our dimensions guide.

Find out how much you could save on your new car by using our Audi A7 Sportback configurator. Alternatively, check out our list of the best saloons on sale to see some rivals.

Audi A7 exterior dimensions

The A7 sits lower than many rivals thanks, in part, to its swooping roofline. You’ll find it’s marginally longer and wider than the Jaguar XF – worth noting if you often park in tight spaces or town centres. Unfortunately, the graceful coupe styling does mean rear visibility is quite limited.

Height 1,420mm
Length  4,974mm
Width including mirrors  2,139mm
Wheelbase  2,914mm

Audi A7 interior dimensions

The A7 interior boasts exquisite build quality but, as a result of the A7’s stylish silhouette, rear cabin space is below average for its class. The Jaguar XF will make a better choice if you need good rear passenger space.

Headroom (front/rear) 1,028mm/944mm
Shoulder room (front/rear) 1,452mm/1,421mm
Elbow room (front/rear) 1,525mm/1,490mm

Audi A7 boot space

The A7’s 535-litre boot is average for the class but significantly bigger than the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe (420 litres). Unlike some rivals, you can fold the rear seats down to create a cavernous 1,390-litre load bay.

Audi A7 turning circle and fuel tank capacity

The A7’s 11.9-metre turning circle is fractionally tighter than the 6 Series Gran Coupe (11.95m) but cannot match the Mercedes CLS’ 11-metre U-turn. Choose a 3.0-litre TDI diesel powered A7 and you should manage just shy of 750 miles between fill ups – assuming you can match the 47.1mpg claimed economy. Diesel models get a 73-litre fuel tank – eight litres larger than petrol models.

Turning circle 11.9 metres
Fuel tank (petrol/diesel) 65 litres/73 litres

Audi A7 weights and towing limits

The lightest A7 weighs 1,755kg – similar to many of its rivals. Versions with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system will be noticeably heavier but, if you’re planning on regularly towing a trailer, you could find the extra weight and traction make the A7 an ideal companion.
