5 of the cheapest cars you can get on Motability in 2026

May 06, 2026 by

Looking for the cheapest Motability cars? These five models prove you can keep costs down without sacrificing comfort, quality or everyday ease.

The Motability Scheme offers an affordable way for eligible customers to lease a new car, with many models available at low advance payments and affordable running costs. It’s designed to make driving more accessible, helping disabled people get behind the wheel of a reliable, well-equipped vehicle without the financial burden of buying outright.

Even at the lower end of the price range, there are still plenty of cars that offer great value for money. Many come with modern tech, comfortable interiors, and practical features that make everyday driving easier and more enjoyable than you might expect at this price point.

The Motability website shows available vehicles based on your mobility benefit (such as Personal Independence Payment or Disability Living Allowance). The amount you receive determines which cars you can lease, and costs vary by vehicle.

If you choose a more expensive car, you may need to pay an “Advance Payment” upfront. This can range from around £95 to several thousand pounds, and in some cases up to about £7,500. Grants may be available through the Motability Foundation to help with these costs.

With that in mind, we’ve rounded up five of the cheapest cars currently available on the Motability Scheme. These models combine low upfront costs with plenty of equipment, comfort, and practicality – proving that you don’t need to spend a lot to get a capable and well-rounded car.

Did you know you can check out what are the best cars on the Motability scheme right here on Carwow? We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

1. Dacia Spring

Advance payment: £0
PIP weekly cost: £75

This electric hatchback is easy to drive, has a straightforward and solid interior, and offers low running costs, with a range of up to 140 miles on a single charge – more than enough for most local driving. However, charging is slow, and the driving experience feels dated compared with more modern alternatives.

2. Kia Picanto

Advance payment: £0
PIP weekly cost: From £77.25

Funky styling, surprising practicality and low running costs make the Picanto a great pick for a cheap car on the Motability scheme. It’s also small and nippy around town, with plenty of tech as standard. That said, it’s not particularly enjoyable on longer journeys, and it doesn’t offer wireless smartphone connectivity.

3. Dacia Sandero Stepway

Advance payment: £0
PIP weekly cost: £80

The Dacia Sandero Stepway is a hatchback with an SUV-style driving position, offering more space than most cars in its price range and a surprisingly comfortable ride. That makes it a strong choice for someone on the scheme looking for a small but practical car. However, its poor safety rating may put you off, and equipment levels are fairly limited.

4. Citroen e-C3 Aircross

Advance payment: From £0 to £1,749
PIP weekly cost: Total mobility allowance

Want an electric car with a big boot? The Citroen e-C3 Aircross is worth considering on the Motability scheme. It offers a 460-litre boot, more space than its petrol sibling, and is comfortable over bumps. However, it’s a bit tight for three passengers in the rear, and it has a range of up to 249 miles on a single charge.

5. Dacia Jogger

Advance payment: From £0 to £1,295
PIP weekly cost: Total mobility allowance

Rounding up our list of cheap Motability cars is the Dacia Jogger. This seven-seater offers plenty of space, is comfortable to drive, and remains easy to manoeuvre despite its size. However, interior materials are fairly basic, and the seating layout does not create a fully flat load floor when the seats are removed, which may be less convenient for wheelchair users.
