Every Chinese car you can get on Motability

April 08, 2026 by

Looking for a Motability car but considering a Chinese brand? Here are all the models currently available on the scheme in the UK.

The Motability Scheme lets eligible UK drivers use their mobility allowance to lease a brand-new car, with insurance, servicing, breakdown cover and maintenance all included in one simple package. It’s designed to make driving easier, more affordable and completely hassle-free.

While the scheme has traditionally been dominated by familiar European and Asian brands, Chinese carmakers are now becoming part of the conversation. Thanks to an abundance of modern tech and competitive pricing, they’re starting to stand out as serious options for Motability customers looking for more choice and better value.

But which models are actually available? Here are all the Chinese cars currently on the Motability scheme.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used Chinese car right here on Carwow. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

BYD Sealion 5

This plug-in hybrid SUV delivers low running costs, generous space, and strong standard equipment. The cabin isn’t the most premium but feels solidly built, with good rear-seat room. A user-friendly touchscreen and well-placed physical controls improve usability. However, it’s more practical than exciting, with average driving dynamics, plain styling, and less electric-only range than some alternatives.

Chery Tiggo 7

The Tiggo 7 is a five-seater SUV with a rather posh, roomy interior. It comes with a choice of petrol or plug-in hybrid engines – we’d recommend the PHEV version – and it’s quiet and refined on the motorway. However, it’s not much fun on twisty roads, and we find the infotainment system awkward to use. Overall, its comfort, space and ease of use make it a strong contender for Motability customers.

Chery Tiggo 8

There’s also the Tiggo 8 – a seven-seater sibling to the Tiggo 7, which is our 2026 Car of the Year. It has a premium-feeling interior and a price tag that makes alternatives look positively overpriced. The technology is plentiful and works well, and you can choose between a petrol engine or a plug-in hybrid. However, it does suffer from a very small boot in seven-seat mode and an unusual rear-view mirror.

Geely Starray

This plug-in hybrid offers strong value, plenty of interior space, and a generous amount of standard equipment. The design is simple, centred around a large 15.4-inch touchscreen with very few physical buttons. However, it’s not particularly fun to drive, and we found the software experience frustrating. Overall, its space, equipment and low running costs could also make it a strong option for Motability users.

Geely EX5

The Geely EX5 is a mid-sized electric SUV with the space of a larger model and a plush interior. The back seats are very roomy, and the top-spec model comes loaded with features like massage seats and a 1,000W sound system. You get up to 267 miles of range on a single charge – plenty for everyday errands, though less ideal for long trips – and the suspension feels firm over bumps. Its comfort, space, and strong kit make it a good candidate for a Motability car.

Jaecoo 5

The Jaecoo 5 is a small SUV with plenty of room for four passengers and generous storage throughout the cabin. Its 480-litre boot capacity is also above most alternatives, and the portrait-oriented infotainment system responds quickly and includes useful shortcuts. However, it’s frustrating that the climate controls are integrated into the screen, and overall it’s very disappointing to drive.

Jaecoo 7

This large SUV was the best-selling car in March and is growing in popularity, so it’s no surprise it’s now part of the Motability scheme. It has a well-made interior, head-turning styling, and is excellent value for money thanks to its generous standard equipment. That said, we found this Jaecoo isn’t very good to drive, and it’s not as practical as its boxy styling might suggest.

Leapmotor T03

If an SUV isn’t for you, this electric hatchback may be worth a look. The Leapmotor T03 offers an impressive amount of space, with four six-foot adults fitting in surprisingly comfortably. It feels nippy around town and is also enjoyable on twisty back roads. However, it only offers up to 165 miles of range, and the in-car tech can be frustrating to use.

Leapmotor B10

This smart-looking electric SUV offers the space and equipment levels of a family SUV, but with a price tag that rivals many much smaller cars. Inside, you get huge rear seats, up to 420 litres of boot space, and a premium-feeling interior. However, range is limited to up to 261 miles on a single charge, and we find the driving experience to be a letdown.

Leapmotor C10

This spacious electric SUV is well-equipped, offering impressive rear-seat space and a comfortable, tech-rich cabin. However, it can feel unsettled on the road, and the driving experience is hampered by intrusive driver-assist systems and slow charging speeds. For Motability users, its easy entry, generous space, and standard equipment make it a practical, comfortable choice for accessible everyday mobility.

MG HS

The MG HS is a large, good-value family SUV that offers a choice of petrol, hybrid, or plug-in hybrid power – with the PHEV version delivering a hugely impressive 75-mile electric range. It also has a roomy boot and rear seats, making it a strong option as a cost-effective company car. That said, it’s not particularly enjoyable to drive, and the infotainment system can feel fiddly.

MG S5 EV

This compact, all-electric SUV has MG’s poshest-feeling interior to date – everything you touch is covered in soft-touch materials, and you really have to look quite hard to find any cheap or scratchy plastics. You get up to 298 miles of range too, which is more than enough for everyday errands. It isn’t exactly eye-catching on the road, but it offers a really impressive combination of space and equipment for the money.

MG ZS

The MG ZS stands out for its strong value, spacious interior and generous equipment, with a large boot and an efficient hybrid option, though it’s less refined to drive than alternatives and can feel a bit unpolished on rougher roads. For Motability customers, its roomy cabin, easy access and high driving position make it especially convenient for everyday mobility and accessibility needs.

MG3

This budget-friendly supermini offers strong value, a lively hybrid option and impressive standard equipment for the price. It drives well in town and feels surprisingly quick, though the interior is let down by cheap-feeling materials and refinement issues. Overall, it’s a practical, fun, low-cost hatchback. Its low running costs, easy access and automatic hybrid option make it a sensible, stress-free choice for everyday mobility needs.

MG4 EV

This electric hatchback offers a fun, balanced driving experience, strong range (up to ~338 miles) and a user-friendly interior, making it a great all-round EV despite some motorway noise and average boot space. It’s affordable to run, with generous equipment and modern tech. Motability customers will benefit from its low running costs, smooth automatic drive and accessible EV charging options.

MG4 Urban

A smarter, budget-friendly choice for everyday driving, the MG4 Urban feels roomy, easy to live with and packed with useful tech for the money. You get strong range for city and motorway use, a big boot and loads of rear-seat space, making it surprisingly practical for families. It’s comfortable, though not the most refined in its class. But for Motability users, it would be ideal thanks to its low running costs, easy access and spacious, wheelchair-friendly practicality.

MG S6 EV

This spacious electric SUV has a premium-feeling interior, is very comfortable, and offers excellent practicality, including generous cabin space and a large boot. However, it’s held back by average charging speeds and less engaging handling. That said, it’s a roomy all-rounder for everyday use and would be well-suited for Motability users thanks to its easy access and strong practicality.

Omoda 5

This SUV is extremely well-equipped for its price, featuring two 12.3-inch screens across the top of the dashboard for driver information and infotainment, and an efficient hybrid engine if you opt for one. However, don’t expect much room in the back seats. It could also make a strong Motability choice thanks to its high level of equipment and easy-to-use technology.
