Hyundai i10 (2014-2020) interior

It’s nice to look at especially if you go for the two-tone colour scheme, but build quality is not the best among alternatives

Style

A colourful dash injects some youthful fun into the interior

A sizeable splash of colour across the Hyundai i10’s dashboard makes it feel a little more fun than some small city cars. Everything looks neat and feels well-organised and two sizeable, easy-to-reach rotary dials mean you’ll have no trouble adjusting the air conditioning – fitted to SE cars and above – on the move.

Premium and Premium SE cars come with a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear lever while all but entry-level S cars are offered with optional red and blue seat upholstery to match the car’s colourful dashboard.

Whichever colour you pick, the Hyundai i10’s interior doesn’t look quite as exciting as the Kia Picanto’s, nor can it match the impressive creak-free build quality you’ll find in a VW Up. Entry-level cars have to make do with a basic blue and black screen but higher-spec Premium models come with a slick seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard.

At this price, you’d expect the i10’s cabin to have all the character of a prison cell, but the design is pleasing on the eye and the two-tone dashboard adds big swathes of colour

Infotainment

Watch our Hyundai i10 interior and infotainment video review

The Hyundai i10 is fitted with a rather basic MP3-compatible two-speaker CD player and stereo as standard.

Step up to an SE model and it comes with Bluetooth connectivity, DAB digital radio, four-speakers and steering wheel-mounted stereo controls as standard but it’s still a very basic system that feels quite old-fashioned.

To catapult the Hyundai i10 into the 21st century you’ll need to pick a high-spec Premium model with a slick seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. These cars come with built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity so you can use you’re phone’s apps for navigation or music streaming. Top-spec Premium SE models get a built-in sat-nav with a 7-year subscription to updates and live traffic alerts.

The touchscreen menus are easy to navigate and a set of handy shortcut buttons makes it easy to switch between stereo and sat-nav features without sifting through any unnecessary menus.
