Audi has confirmed a sporty looking new model for the Q2 crossover, called the Edition #1.
Although the standard model gives the Nissan Juke a playful jab in the ribs, the Edition #1 aims to eradicate it completely by adding a styling package and more equipment to the uber-desirable formula of an Audi-badged small crossover.
Audi Q2 Edition #1 – exterior
Those sporty looks come courtesy of, you guessed it, an S line exterior pack that beefs up the bumpers and sills, and adds a distinctive rear diffuser that, we would wager, has absolutely no aerodynamic benefits whatsoever. Add to that a moody Quantum Gray paint job, with a Manhattan Gray lower half; titanium accents on the bumpers and grille (brought by the Black Pack) and huge 19-inch wheels, and the Edition #1 has everything it needs to survive the means streets of, er, Islington.
Audi Q2 Edition #1 – interior
Alongside the generous standard equipment of the regular Q2, the Edition #1model brings with it LED headlights and tail lights, plus Audi’s super-cool scrolling indicators.
Inside, there are height-adjustable part-leather sports seats, LED ambient lighting – with no less than 10 colour options – and a leather-bound multi-function steering wheel.
Audi Q2 Edition #1 – engines
Engines don’t quite live up to the bullish billing of the exterior, but make a lot of sense in a car like this. Prospective buyers can choose between a nippy 148hp 1.4 petrol, with the option to specify Audi’s seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, or a frugal 114hp 1.6-litre diesel which sips fuel at a rate of 61.4mpg.
Audi Q1 Edition #1 price and release date
On sale in September, prices for the Edition #1 have yet to be revealed, but we expect it to comfortably exceed £32,000 – food for thought when you consider a fully kitted out (and much, much quicker) Nissan Juke Nismo RS’s yours for a shade over £22,000.
