The Skoda Enyaq won the Smart Spender trophy in the Carwow Car Of The Year Awards, and it’s easy to see why.

If you’re after a sensible family car, Skoda is one of the first brands you should check out. It’s known for no-nonsense practicality, and the Enyaq is a prime example.

Not only is the Skoda Enyaq a brilliant electric SUV, it’s also really good value for money. So much so, it won the Smart Spender Award in our 2026 Car Of The Year awards.

Why is the Skoda Enyaq so good?

One of the Enyaq’s main draws is its cavernous practicality. You get acres of rear legroom and a spacious 585-litre boot, and it’s also packed with Skoda’s handy range of Simply Clever features.

There’s an ice scraper hidden in the bootlid, a removable storage tray for the rear seats as well as an umbrella hidden in the doors. That means you can brag that your humble family SUV has something in common with a Rolls Royce.

The Enyaq is also lovely to drive. It’s comfortable over bumps, smooth and refined on the motorway and you get decent driving range. Some models get up to 359 miles on a charge.

Skoda Enyaq lease prices: a great car made even more tempting

Current Skoda Enyaq leasing deals make this car more appealing than ever. You can get one for just £255 per month* over four years, and that’s with an initial payment of £3,359 and a mileage limit of 8,000 per year.

This is for the well-equipped SE L model. You get things like heated front seats, a 13.0-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a reversing camera.

Keep in mind that this deal is for the model with the smallest battery, giving you 269 miles of claimed range. That’s still plenty for most people’s commutes, but you can upgrade to the larger pack with 359 miles of range for just £23 per month extra*.

Skoda Enyaq alternatives

The Skoda Enyaq is a brilliant car, but it’s not perfect. Here are three alternatives you might want to consider, and each does something a bit better than the Skoda.

Tesla Model Y – more cargo space

The Enyaq’s 585-litre boot is impressive, but it can’t hold a candle to the 854 litres offered by the Tesla Model Y. This car also has a good-sized front boot, something the Skoda does without.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 – more interesting to look at

It may be a handsome-looking car, but the Skoda Enyaq is unlikely to set anyone’s pulse racing. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a much more funky design with its retro-futuristic styling, and the interior is brighter than the Enyaq’s as well.

Ford Mustang Mach-E – more fun to drive

If you’re looking to have a bit of fun on a twisty road, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is the electric SUV to buy. The steering is more responsive than the Skodas, and it feels more agile through the bends. The trade off is a drop in comfort though; it’s quite firm over bumps.
