Car changing is a big deal
This is the new Fiat Grizzly, and it’ll join the Grande Panda to complete the brand’s lineup of bear-inspired cars. Here’s news editor Jamie Edkins to tell you all about it.
Usually, I wouldn’t fancy coming face-to-face with a Grizzly in the supermarket car park – even if they do look pretty cute. This, however, is a different story. It’s the Fiat Grizzly – a mid-sized SUV which serves as an alternative to the Vauxhall Frontera and Citroen C3 Aircross.
Under the skin it’s very similar to the Fiat Grande Panda, meaning it’ll be available with petrol, hybrid and electric power options. Sales will start later this year, and you’ll be able to choose between a boxy SUV or a sporty-looking Fastback.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
New Fiat Grizzly: everything we know so far
The new Fiat Grizzly will be closely related to the Grande Panda under the skin, and you can see the influence of that car in the design.

Up front you have a gloss black fascia with pixel-like details, just like the Grande Panda, and the bluff nose looks similarly rugged as well. The SUV version looks pretty similar to the Vauxhall Frontera from the side, which is no surprise as that car also shares the same parts.
Unlike the Frontera, the Grizzly will also be available as a Fastback with a sporty sloping roofline. This version could appeal to people also looking at the Peugeot 3008.

Just like the Grande Panda and Vauxhall Frontera, it’s likely to have 110hp and 145hp hybrid petrol engines, as well as a 113hp electric version with between 240 and 250 miles of range.
The Grizzly will go on sale across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the second half of 2026, so UK sales are likely to start towards the end of the year. We’d expect it to cost around £25,000, putting it in line with the Vauxhall Frontera and Citroen C3 Aircross.
New Fiat Grizzly alternatives: the cars you can buy right now
Can’t wait for the Fiat Grizzly? Here are three affordable SUVs you can get your hands on right now.
1. Vauxhall Frontera

The most obvious alternative is the Vauxhall Frontera, because the Grizzly will share a lot of parts with this car. You could also consider the Citroen C3 Aircross, which is also very mechanically similar.
The Frontera is hugely practical for the money, with a massive boot and spacious rear seats. It’s slightly smaller than the Grizzly though, and the interior is a bit boring. It is cheap though, with prices starting from less than £24,000 and average savings of more than £4,000 through Carwow at the time of writing.
2. Dacia Duster
If you’re not after an electric car, the Dacia Duster is certainly worth a look. The rugged styling looks effortlessly cool, and it feels really robust inside. It’s also lovely to drive, and you can get a four-wheel drive version if you want to go off the beaten track.
It does feel a bit cheap inside, but it’s also very cheap to buy. Prices start from just under £22,000, and through Carwow you can get one for as little as £21,000. It’s also available with a smooth and efficient hybrid engine which will get 50mpg in the real world.
3. Jaecoo 5

The Jaecoo 5 is a great-value Chinese SUV which is spacious inside, well-equipped and costs less than £25,000. It’s also available as the electric E5, which is the one we’d go for because the petrol engine is pretty noisy and not that economical.
It’s not the best SUV to drive, but for the money it offers the most space and standard equipment in this segment.
