About Maxus

Maxus was born when SAIC Motor, a gigantic Chinese state-owned car company, purchased the intellectual property of the British LDV Group in 2010. LDV’s last van was called the Maxus, and so this was the name SAIC carried forward to become the brand name for its new commercial vehicle operations.

Maxus vehicles were sold as LDVs in the UK until 2020, before rebranding as Maxus. While Maxus initially sold re-hashed versions of old and fairly rubbish LDV vans, it now has a full range of commercial vehicles powered by diesel or electricity.

The Maxus range includes small, medium and large vans, pickup trucks, and even a pair of all-electric luxury people-carriers. Distributed in the UK and Ireland by the Harris Group, it has over 60 dealers across the UK.

What our car expert says

“Maxus vans are spectacularly cheap compared to some of the Western alternatives - and when it comes to moving goods about, they’re not too bad. The latest Maxus electric vans compete well in terms of range and performance, even if the diesel models feel quite agricultural. If you live near a dealer, a Maxus van could be a cost-effective choice for your business”

Maxus FAQs

Maxus vans are built by SAIC Motor, the Chinese state-owned auto manufacturer that also makes MG cars. Maxus vans are built in China and sold globally.
If you’re putting Maxus vans against the latest European ones then they typically feel a bit unrefined and aren’t great to drive. However, if you compare pricing, you can usually forgive that, as Maxus vans are among the cheapest you can buy for their size. This makes them good value for money.
Some Maxus vans - specifically the Deliver 9, Deliver 7, and T60 MAX pickup - are available with diesel engines. Other Maxus vehicles are electric only.
