You’re looking at an upgraded version of the MG ZS EV, with this new take on the SUV set to go on sale in November.

This low-cost alternative to the Kia Soul EV and Peugeot e-2008 comes with a new look, an improved infotainment system and a new longer-range model.

2022 MG ZS EV design

Though the basic silhouette and design cues of the existing MG ZS EV are retained, this updated model does sport a fresher look.

Gone is the faux-grille upfront with a single-piece front bumper jow featuring, along with sharper LED headlights. The rear bumper sees some tweaks too, while a new set of alloy wheels rounds out the visual changes.

2022 MG ZS EV batteries and motors

The big news for the new MG ZS EV is a new ‘long-range’ version, which will be your sole option at launch. This houses a 72kWh battery pack that’s said to offer a range of 273 miles between charges — quite the drastic rise from 163 miles in the outgoing car.

This will support 76kW DC rapid charging too, allowing the battery to be topped from flat to 80% in 42 minutes. Next year, a 51kWh 198-mile version of the ZS EV will join the fray too.

No word on performance for this upgraded model, but expect it to still just be offered with a single electric motor. It should at least get a slight boost over the current car’s 141hp, though.

2022 MG ZS EV interior and infotainment

Though the interior of the new MG ZS EV is largely same as before, there’s a key change at the heart of it all.

That’s the new infotainment system, with a 10.1-inch display now housing completely new software. This is said to offer better graphics and improved functionality, plus it’ll be able to ping car information like charge and security functions to your phone.

Wireless phone charging comes to the ZS EV too, along with a new digital driver’s display.

2022 MG ZS EV price and release date

The new MG ZS EV will be hitting showrooms in November 2021, and you’ll find out prices just before then.

Expect it to rise over the existing car’s £26,095 price (inclusive of the government’s plug-in car grant) though to account for the larger battery and improved tech. Something closer to £30,000 seems likely.
