Sometimes a car’s looks are what draw people to it. These are the cars whose owners rate their exteriors most highly, based on the latest Driver Power owner satisfaction survey.
For many drivers, the way a car looks is just as important as how it drives. From handsome hatchbacks to stylish SUVs, exterior design can be a major factor when choosing a new set of wheels – but which cars do their owners think look the best?
Based on feedback from more than 100,000 UK motorists, the latest Driver Power survey reveals the top 10 cars that owners rate highest for their exterior design. Here are the models that made the cut.

1. Peugeot 308
Claiming the top prize is the Peugeot 308, and it’s easy to see why. It’s one of the most eye-catching hatchbacks on sale and feels genuinely classy inside, while also being quiet and comfortable to drive. However, its seating position won’t suit everyone, and its gearbox can be slightly hesitant.
Owners were impressed by its styling. One respondent described it as “well-built and very well-designed”, while another called it “stylish, spacious, and relatively economical”. Another praised its “classy looks”.
2. Peugeot 3008
Taking silver is the Peugeot 3008. This is one of the most distinctive family SUVs you can buy, thanks to its dramatic styling and equally striking interior, which makes most alternatives look rather ordinary. That said, its infotainment system can be fiddly, while the rear seats are quite cramped.
Respondents in the Driver Power survey liked it a lot for its exterior looks, too. One owner said that “it has everything I need and is also very stylish”, while another praised its “good looks and reliability”.
3. Vauxhall Mokka
Rounding out the podium is this small and stylish SUV. We think the Vauxhall Mokka not only looks great, but is also well-equipped and reasonably priced. It’s let down, however, by its smaller boot than many alternatives, while it’s also incredibly dull to drive.
Regardless, owners certainly don’t think the Mokka looks dull. “It’s genuinely a lovely all-around car,” one owner explained, while another loved it for its “stylish looks and interior flair”. Another respondent described it as being “comfortable, has a good design, and is good on fuel economy”.
4. Peugeot 2008
Yes, we have yet another Peugeot on this list – and we understand why. Like most of Peugeot’s line-up, the 2008 is rugged-looking and really stylish. It’s also cheap to run and features a 3D dashboard display. However, similarly to the 308, it has a sluggish automatic gearbox and is cramped in the back.
It’s a “great looking car that drives well”, said one owner, while another described it as “very smart looking”. Another respondent even said it “looks good, drives well, has great fuel consumption and is very comfortable”.
5. Vauxhall Grandland
Also making the top 10 is the Vauxhall Grandland. Not only does this SUV offer decent practicality and comfort, but it also has a quality interior. That said, it has a gutless petrol engine and it has stingy base model displays.
That hasn’t stopped owners from rating the Grandland highly for its exterior design, though. One described it as “great looking”, while another said it “looks classy with the dark roof”. One respondent even went as far as to say it was “in a word, beautiful”.
6. Toyota Aygo X
This little car may have aggressive looks that won’t appeal to everyone, but it certainly seems to have impressed the owners who responded to the Driver Power survey. The Toyota Aygo X has an incredibly efficient hybrid engine, is fun to drive, and feels refined on the motorway. However, there’s not much cabin storage, and the boot is quite small.
Owners liked it a lot for its looks. One respondent described it as a “nice-looking compact car”, while another said they “love it” because “it’s stylish and economical”.
7. Peugeot 208
This is the final Peugeot on this list. The 208 is the smallest car of the bunch and has striking looks, a great interior, and efficient hybrid engines. But many alternatives are much cheaper, while its rear legroom isn’t great.
Respondents in the Driver Power survey loved the Peugeot 208 for its “sleek design”. One said it “has a lovely interior and looks very smart outside”, while another owner called it the “best-looking small car”.
8. Volvo XC40
Up next is the Volvo XC40. We think this is a very handsome and sophisticated car that has plenty of room for passengers and is comfortable on the road. However, it has an ageing interior design, and we find the infotainment system quite fiddly.
Owners liked it for its exterior looks. One respondent praised its “looks and functionality”, while another said they “love the styling and the driving comfort”.
9. Mazda CX-30
The Mazda CX-30 doesn’t just have stylish looks; it’s also got decent levels of standard equipment and is great fun to drive for a small SUV. That said, its rear-seat space isn’t great, and the boot space can’t match the best small SUVs.
One owner described it as “good looking” and also thought it was “comfortable” and “has a good level of refinement and equipment”. Another respondent said it was “great looking with lots of features”, while another liked “the look of the vehicle”, describing it as “stylish and slightly understated”.
10. Nissan Juke
Rounding out the top 10 is the Nissan Juke. The looks of this SUV can best be described as Marmite, but one thing’s for sure: it certainly has quirky styling. It’s also got decent levels of standard equipment and safety tech, and it’s priced well too. However, the interior feels quite cramped and it’s not particularly comfortable.
Owners clearly like its divisive looks. One respondent in the Driver Power survey said they “love the colour and styling”, while another stated that it “looks good, drives well, and has nice tech”.
