1. Jaecoo 5

RRP: £24,555-£28,050*
First up is the Jaecoo 5, with every trim priced below the £30,000 threshold. This Chinese SUV offers a lot of car for the money, so it’s no surprise that Carwow users are eyeing it up.
There’s plenty of space inside, the infotainment system is slick, and it comes with a long warranty, too. However, its petrol engine is thirsty and noisy, and it’s not particularly enjoyable to drive.
2. Renault 5

RRP: £22,995-£30,695*
The Renault 5 is also popular on our site. The range-topping Roland Garros + is the only version with an RRP above £30,000, but you can get it for much less through Carwow.
This small electric car has superb retro looks, loads of kit and is great to drive, both in town and on the motorway. Its range of up to 250 miles is competitive for the price, too, although the back seats are very cramped.
3. MG ZS

RRP: £21,495-£26,495*
Rounding out the podium is the MG ZS. At the time of writing, you can save up to £5,000 on the entry-level SE self-charging hybrid when buying through Carwow, bringing the price down to less than £21,000.
This SUV offers plenty of equipment for the money and a roomy rear seat. It’s got a powerful hybrid engine, too, which is available across the entire range. That said, it feels unpolished in places and it isn’t as satisfying to drive as some alternatives.
4. Volkswagen Polo

RRP: £22,310-£28,920*
Carwow users are also looking at the Volkswagen Polo, and its entire range costs less than £30,000. The top-spec Black Edition is priced from £28,920, however you can get it through Carwow from over £26,300 at the time of writing.
This small hatchback has plenty of boot space, with up to 351 litres on offer, a slick cabin that feels posh, and it’s comfortable. However, it’s not the most fun small car to drive, and its entry-level petrol engine lacks punch.
5. Vauxhall Corsa

RRP: £20,590-£30,935*
There’s also the Vauxhall Corsa, which has proved popular with buyers. Most versions cost less than £30,000, but even the range-topping Ultimate hybrid, priced at £30,935, can be bought for under £23,000 through Carwow at the time of writing.
This small hatchback has smart exterior styling, generous standard equipment and is comfortable to drive. However, its rear seats are rather cramped and its infotainment system can be fiddly to use.
6. Chery Tiggo 7

RRP: £24,995-£32,995*
This Chinese SUV is great value for money, so it’s no wonder Carwow users have set their sights on the Chery Tiggo 7. The majority of the range is priced under £30,000, with the exception of the top-spec Summit plug-in hybrid, which costs £32,995. At the time of writing, though, you can get this version from around £27,600 through Carwow.
In fact, we’d recommend opting for a plug-in hybrid version of the Tiggo 7, as we rate it so highly. It also has a roomy interior and is quiet and refined on the motorway. However, its infotainment system is awkward to use, and it’s not much fun on a twisty road.
7. Jaecoo E5

RRP: £27,505-£30,505*
The Jaecoo E5 is also popular among Carwow users. Most versions of this Chinese SUV cost less than £30,000, with the range-topping Luxury model priced at just shy of £30,500. However, you can get one new through Carwow for around £29,000 at the time of writing.
This is an affordable electric car that offers up to 250 miles of range, plenty of space and useful storage, plus a responsive infotainment system. That said, its slow DC charging makes it a poor choice for longer journeys, and we find its design rather bland, both inside and out.
8. Vauxhall Frontera Electric

RRP: £24,795-£31,495*
Also making the top 10 is the Vauxhall Frontera Electric, with most versions priced below £30,000. The exception is the extended-range Ultimate version, which has a list price of £31,495. However, at the time of writing, you can get this top-spec model for around £27,300.
This electric car offers great value for money, plenty of interior space and a comfortable ride. However, its interior feels cheap, and some alternatives offer a longer range, as the Frontera Electric can travel up to 250 miles on a single charge.
9. SEAT Ibiza

RRP: £20,410-£27,345*
Another model that’s proved popular among Carwow users is the SEAT Ibiza. The entire range costs less than £30,000, including the top-spec FR Sport, which comes with a 115hp 1.0-litre petrol engine and a smooth automatic gearbox that make it well suited to town driving.
If you’re after a stylish and efficient small car, the SEAT Ibiza is a great choice. It has a decent-sized boot, with up to 355 litres of space, and it’s great fun to drive, too. However, some of the plastics in the cabin feel cheap, and the entry-level petrol engine can be noisy.
10. Jaecoo 7

RRP: £29,210-£36,505*
Last up is a Chinese SUV that was the UK’s best-selling car in September – which may explain why its entry-level self-charging hybrid, priced at £29,210, could be on buyers’ radar.
Indeed, the Jaecoo 7 has a well-made interior, comes with plenty of standard equipment and is easy to drive around town, despite being a relatively large SUV. That said, we find its suspension firm over bumps, practicality only so-so, and the base petrol engine noisy.
