The Wey Coffee 01 will be going on sale in Germany by the end of the year, and it looks like this Chinese hybrid SUV may come to the UK as well. Read on for all you need to know.

  • New Wey Coffee 01 on sale in Europe soon
  • Chinese plug-in hybrid luxury SUV
  • Sleek modern design
  • 476hp and 0-60mph in 5.0 seconds
  • 90 miles of claimed electric-only range
  • May cost from £48,000 in the UK

This is the Wey Coffee 01, and it’s a new hybrid SUV from China. It’ll be going on sale in Germany by the end of the year, and it may even make it to the UK at a later date.

This alternative to the Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC is powered by a 476hp hybrid system and is expected to start from 55,900 Euros in Germany. This equates to around £48,000.

New Wey Coffee 01 design

The Wey Coffee 01 is already sold in China as the Wey Mocca, and the styling will remain the same for Europe.

It looks as though this car borrows styling details from multiple luxury SUVs. That huge imposing grille, for example, looks very Audi-esque, while the slim LED headlamps have something of the BMW iX about them.

Down the sides, you get 21-inch alloy wheels as standard as well as flush-fitting pop-out door handles. There’s also some chrome trim around the windows, as well as satin silver roof rails to lift things further.

The back features narrow tail lights, as well as a subtle roof spoiler. The boot lid has the word ‘Wey’ emblazoned across it, and there’s some silver trim on the lower bumper.

New Wey Coffee 01 interior

As with the exterior, the cabin of the Wey Coffee 01 will remain almost identical to that of the Chinese market Mocca. It’s a fairly premium-looking cabin with three sizeable screens dominating the dashboard.

The interior of the Coffee 01 will look more or less the same as the Wey Mocca (pictured)

The largest is a 14.6-inch touchscreen that controls the infotainment system, with a smaller touch-sensitive display positioned beneath with icons for the climate control system. A digital driver’s display in place of analogue dials is also standard.

New Wey Coffee 01 engine and driving

There’s just one engine available with the Wey Coffee 01, and it’s a plug-in hybrid with a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to two electric motors.

These give this SUV 476hp, which is enough for a 0-60mph sprint time of 5.0-seconds. That’s slightly quicker than an Audi SQ5 and only a tenth of a second slower than the BMW X3 M40i.

You have a 40kWh battery on board – that’s enough to give you a claimed all-electric range of 90 miles. That’s around 15 miles more than you get in a Mercedes GLC. It can also be fast charged on a 50kW DC rapid charger from 0-80% in 53 minutes.

New Wey Coffee 01 price and release date

The new Wey Coffee 01 is due to go on sale in Germany by the end of the year, with prices expected to start at 55,900 Euros.

That’s around £48,000 in the UK, although there’s been no confirmation of when the Coffee 01 may go on sale here – yet.
