Car changing is a big deal
Mat Watson explains how a used Mazda CX-60 could be the ideal car if you’re after an SUV which is posh and good to drive, but are bored of all the usual German suspects.
This is the Mazda CX-60, and it’s a stylish, well-equipped and posh-feeling SUV which provides an alternative to cars like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. It may not have the cachet of those brands, but I reckon it’s still well worth a look. Especially if you buy one used.
I’m going to explain why this car is worthy of your attention, and why a second-hand example is the best value for money.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
Three good things about the Mazda CX-60
1. The interior is lovely
You don’t have to buy a German SUV to get a posh interior, because this Japanese SUV feels even more premium than a BMW X3 or an Audi Q5. I especially like the light leather trim and maplewood dash inserts you get on top-spec cars, and everything feels really nice and solid.
2. You get loads of kit as standard

All versions of the Mazda CX-60 get heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display and 18-inch alloy wheels, and you only have to step up to the mid-spec version to get a 360-degree camera, a power tailgate and a panoramic glass roof.
3. It’s great to drive

Mazdas are always good driver’s cars, and the CX-60 is no exception. The driving position is spot-on, and it’s pretty good fun on a twisty road for something this size. It’s maybe not quite as agile as a BMW X3, but it’s really not far off.
Mazda CX-60 deals: why buying used makes the most sense
A new Mazda CX-60 starts from just shy of £47,000, making it cheaper than the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. You can also save an average of £9,250 on this car through Carwow at the time of writing, but I reckon a used example is the best value for money.

I found this 2025 Mazda CX-60 with 13,419 miles on the clock for £37,895. It’s the mid-spec Homura Plus model with the 3.3-litre diesel engine, and if you specced this car from new it would cost you £55,420.
So you’re saving over £17,500 by forgoing that new car smell, which isn’t to be sniffed at.
Three annoying things about the Mazda CX-60
As much as I like this car, it’s not perfect. Here are three annoying things to consider before committing your cash.
1. It’s not as spacious as an Audi Q5

For such a big SUV, the CX-60 isn’t all that roomy inside. There’s plenty of space to get comfortable up front, and rear headroom is decent, but kneeroom in the back seats is pretty poor. Taller adults may struggle, and getting three people across the rear bench is also a squeeze. The Audi Q5 is better for carrying passengers.
2. The heated steering wheel

While it’s great that the CX-60 comes with a heated steering wheel as standard, I was disappointed to find that it only warms up at the 10 and 2 positions. I know this is where you should technically hold the wheel, but a lot of people like to place their hands elsewhere. Why not just warm the whole thing, Mazda?
3. Dirty reversing camera

Many cars at this price have a reversing camera which pops out from behind a cover, or a washer jet to blast away road grime. The CX-60 has neither, and it’s mounted quite low down so the camera gets covered in muck – rendering it useless until you wipe it off with your finger.
